This is what you get when you ask someone with money but no experience, what a "fancy restaurant" should be. We went for the tasting menu with matching wines; I believe if you really want to sample a place and they offer this, it's the way to go. The meal in total for 2 was just shy of $1000.
While the food was presented fairly well, it was really poorly thought out. The amuse bouche was some random cracker / biscuit thing with jam on? My bouche was less amused, more confused and needing a drink. What even was that? While the quail course was "nice" the rest were either lacking in substance or just a bunch of ingredients on a plate without a concept. Some courses had potential and others were just bad. It did not take me on a pleasant journey to showcase what was possible - it confused me, left me never wanting to return. The wine choices also just showed a lack of real expertise and pushed foreign wines where I think far better options were available. I live in France, but the perception of this place seems to be that if you add lots of European wines (not really good ones at that) the clueless people with money will nod and buy.
The staff, while attentive, had clearly memorized snippets of things to regurgitate at customers, rather than having knowledge in depth. This really showed the difference between where they thought they were in level and where they are. When the food was presented, the server would mutter something about what it was, which wasn't really understood and everything was again, just misguided.
I wish it was better. I wish I didn't spent 1k on something that I was rating this low, but I couldn't possibly rate it higher, because it just was so poorly executed.
If you want to pay FAR too much to validate your own status, go for it, but there are FAR FAR better food places, that, if you enjoy food, you'd...
Read moreI had the chance to dine at Nine on their opening night, August 15, 2025, and it was a wonderful experience. This new restaurant at 9 Park Street in Beacon Hill has stepped into the old No. 9 Park space and already feels like it belongs there.
I was seated in the left-hand dining room, which I’ve always thought is the best one. It’s quieter and more intimate, away from the bustle of the bar and the windowed dining room, and it made the tasting menu feel even more special.
I ordered the Chef’s Tasting Menu with the foie gras supplement and a mocktail. The food was generous, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Highlights for me were the carrot blossom pappardelle with lemon and pistachios, the quail with corn purée and greens, and the seared foie gras with cherry and orange. Even though it’s being called a gin palace, my mocktail was given just as much care as a cocktail, citrusy and spiced to pair perfectly across the meal. The portions surprised me—in the best way—because they were much more generous than other tasting menus in the area.
My server Mannie was truly grace under pressure—calm, kind, and attentive. At one point I told him something was missing in a drink, and he immediately offered to have it remade, which I gratefully accepted. He made the whole night feel seamless.
The only small hiccup was that American Express wasn’t set up yet, but that’s something that will be fixed quickly. Everything else more than made up for it.
Overall, Nine already feels refined but not stuffy, modern but still respectful of tradition. I left feeling grateful I got to be there on opening night and I’m excited to...

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with just the right balance of elegance and comfort. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to make me feel not just like a guest, but like a truly valued part of the evening. The food was nothing short of outstanding. Each dish and beverage was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared, and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable and attentive without ever being overbearing. From start to finish, this was one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had. I left already planning my next visit.
