CLIFF NOTES: I TRIED ALL 19 PARISH CAFE SANDWICHES AND RANKED THEM BELOW
In December 2018, two friends embarked on a daunting journey...a journey to try every sandwich on the Parish Café Menu. Though many called them crazy for going to a single restaurant so many times, they didn't let the haters distract them from persevering and finally achieving their goal, 3 months later. I am now here today to tell our story and share our ultimate, undisputed rankings of all 19 Parish Café sandwiches (though really this is up to personal preference so feel free to dispute it).
Okay folks so I wrote my first review about Parish Cafe and gave it a 5, which I don't give that often. This place is unassuming, has a cafe feel, and serves the humble sandwich, but it earns its 5 stars. The service is great, the prices are reasonable given the portion size, and I have never left her feeling unhappy. I said it in my first review and I'll say it again. I love how this place elevates the sandwich and has 19 different ones created by different chefs around the city. I know I joked about going to the same restaurant so many times above but in going to this restaurant, you are almost getting a taste of Boston by trying the different sandwiches created by the different chefs of Boston.
With that said, I would like to share my ranking of all 19 sandwiches based on my personal preference (plus pictures of every single one). I also had the bread pudding which is PHENOMENAL. A few caveats: I should first say that what I like is not necessarily going to be what everyone else likes so please know that. Two sandwiches below have horseradish cream and bleu cheese which set them way back for me because I don't like either of those things. I am also a big meat eater so I am inherently biased against the meatless sandwiches (and you will find most of those at the bottom of the ranking). I will also not judge sandwiches based on their sides...the sandwiches either come with potato chips, potato salad, cole slaw, or mixed greens and to be (somewhat) healthy, my friend often just went with the mixed greens. We did try all the sides and enjoyed them all but mixed greens were our go-to. I love onions, especially grilled, caramelized, or pickled so if a sandwich had one of this, it had an unfair advantage
In general, I will also try and tell you if each sandwich is for when you're in the mood for something heavy or something light. You'll also find that I leaned more heavily (pun intended) towards the heavier sandwiches and that's also based on personal preference.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Read moreNestled in the heart of Boston, this sandwich shop is an absolute gem. I first heard about it from a friend who insisted that it was a must-visit spot, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the shop's cool, laid-back vibe. The decor was a mix of modern and rustic elements, with exposed brick walls and minimalist wooden tables that gave the space a warm, inviting feel.
One of the most unique aspects of the shop is the fact that each sandwich is crafted and inspired by a different chef, giving each menu item its own distinctive flair. I found this concept to be fascinating, and it added an element of excitement to the ordering process. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, we finally settled on the Bravas and the Rialto sandwiches, and we were not disappointed.
The Bravas sandwich was a true standout. Inspired by Chef Cassie Piuma of Sarma - sweet onion butter, prosciutto, chorizo, manchego cheese, crispy Brussels sprouts, garlic aioli, cilantro, and hot sauce, on a grilled sesame torta bun, served with potato salad, it was a flavor explosion with every bite. The Rialto, meanwhile, was an option inspired by Chef Jody Adams of Rialto. It has thin sliced prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, basil pesto, garlic-rubbed texas toast sided with mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes, and pine nut vinaigrette. I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfying and filling the Rialto was.
But perhaps the biggest surprise of the meal was the Brussels sprouts. I'll be honest - I'm not usually a fan of this cruciferous vegetable. However, the chef at this sandwich shop managed to prepare them in a way that completely won me over. They were roasted to perfection with a sprinkle of sea salt, giving them a crispy, savory flavor that was irresistible.
Aside from the food, I was also impressed with the level of service we received. I was with someone who has a peanut allergy and was pleased to see that the staff took it seriously. They were incredibly accommodating and made sure to prepare our food in a way that would not put her at risk. In fact, they even offered to customize our sandwiches to fit our dietary preferences, which was a nice touch.
All in all, I would highly recommend this sandwich shop to anyone in the Boston area. The combination of delicious food, creative chefs, and attentive service make it a standout destination in the city. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other menu items - I have a feeling they'll be just as delicious as what...
Read moreHoly heaven!!! This a wonderful late night find... at 11:30 at night you're usually only going to find not so great bar food and there's nothing wrong with that but I wasn't expecting to find one of the most flavor filled sandwiches I've ever had in my 45 years on this planet. Yes. You read that right and I'm not exaggerating. I was expecting something along the lines of a cheese steak or French dip. What I recieved was something that had such incredible depth of flavors. The smokey flavor of the steak , then the creaminess of the cheese, the freshness of the arugula, is that creamy mashed potatos on there too??? Yes!! AND the rosemary toasted bread!! It's a perfect symphony of flavors playing off each other!! I felt like Re creating the dinner scene from "When Harry met Sally" but from the joy happening on my palette. Since it had been a long day and I wasn't looking for anything alcoholic at this point you usually have to settle for water or soda. Not here! My wonderful waiter suggested a raspberry rickey. Do I know for sure what was in it? Nope. My best guess is tears from angels, sweetness from the freshest muddled raspberries, and the love I didn't recieve as a child. I've never taken a sip of something and stared at it afterwards in disbelieve of how incredible what ever came out of the straw was. My husband and I both could not stop eating and complimenting every single bite. Ohhhh and how about the cost of the best sandwich and refreshment I've ever consumed??? HALF OFF AFTER 10PM! Whattt?? This meal was worth full price and more, but I'm no fool half off means another half I can buy tomorrow! If you live near here and aren't eating here at least once every week I'm really not sure what you're doing with your life. Sadly, I live in PA but my next trip to Boston will be based around eating here...
