I absolutely love the vibes you get from walking into a coffee shop and catching up with a friend. It’s like you’ve been teleported into the Room of Requirement where THE checklist is checked.
The checklist being, MY checklist for coffee shops: Yummy caffeinated drinks Tasty food I can eat while venting Comfortable seating because we’re not going anywhere anytime soon Tables where I can pull out my laptop and get the teeniest amount of work done in order to tell myself this whole vent session was productive Clean bathrooms cause coffee always gets me going!
Okay so we got:
AVOCADO TARTINE My personal favorite every time I come to Tatte! It’s their house-made sourdough (their bakery is amazing) topped with mashed avocado, baby arugula, dill, radish slices and poached eggs. It comes with a multitude of different herbs, flavors and textures. Ugh, so freaking good could totally have this everyday! Every bite is perfection and it’s also pretty filling. I’m usually full after finishing this off with an iced latte. Delish!
BREAKFAST SANDWICH For my chicken tenders and fries kinda girls. Eggs your style (over medium in this case), Vermont cheddar, and applewood smoked bacon on their house-made sourdough. It’s simple, but their fresh ingredients make this delicious!
CHOCOLATE CROISSANT Like I said earlier, their bakery is amazing. I always split a chocolate croissant here with my sister because she always wants one of these bad boys. Their croissants are made with four Valrhona dark chocolate batons which are then rolled into their house-made flaky croissant dough. Every bite is so buttery, so flakey and deliciously chocolatey. You gotta have one of these, really takes the edge off the angry vent sessions!
ICED PISTACHIO LATTE House-made pistachio syrup topped with espresso and milk. Sounds interesting enough? Love, absolutely love. Wish I could make this at home, but it still probably wouldn’t turn out as good. It’s like pistachios were brewed or steamed (however it works) right into the coffee beans. I’m telling you, if you’re a big pistachios fan like me you’ll love this! Tastes like real pistachios not the simple syrup fake kind. I also get this with oat milk because I am a lactose “sensitive” girly. Could drink this everyday.
SMOKED SALMON & AVOCADO TARTINE This is my sister’s go to when we come here. It’s their house-made sourdough that gets toasted and topped with some delicious smoked salmon, chopped avocado, campari tomatoes, red onion, capers (my sister loathes capers so she opted not to get them) and dill tossed with olive oil and their special green herbed dressing. Every bite is so tasty and it’s sooo colorful making it even more satisfying to devour this. Very filling and hits the spot every time.
If you haven’t already, you have GOT to check this busy bee place out! It’s cute to catch up here, great for studying with headphones, grabbing a quick bite to eat and it’s the perfect location for showing someone around Boston for the first time!...
Read moreOne star for a really rude manager who not only ridiculed me and a friend to our face but also audibly complained to the entire kitchen staff about a simple request we made. Ugh. It really was pretty awful.
My friend and I ordered breakfast from the board, and plain and simple. They messed up her order. The waiter flagged to manager to help. When she came over, we explained what we ordered and that one of the dishes came out wrong. She quickly picked up a separate paper menu from somewhere and proceeded to tell us we shouldn’t order from the board as it has no details (it does) and that we ordered wrong. She wouldn’t let it go. Over and over, she said the board doesn’t have enough description but the paper menu does. Then finally she grabbed the plate and said she would get a new one, all the while saying to us that it’s “not that hard to be nice” and “It’s not that hard to be polite”.
We were shocked. Honestly we would have left had we not already paid.
We were sitting by a counter where you can see into the kitchen. We then heard her complaining about us to the back kitchen and anyone who would listen. She caught me watching her in the act and I thought she would stop; but, she continued to vent.
I really have no idea why this became such a bad issue and horrible experience. My friend was never rude, nor did she raise her voice. She was just trying to explain she didn’t receive what was ordered and ask for a new and correct dish.
The manager never apologized. She was really smug and honestly it was even worse seeing her complain and make fun of us to the whole staff behind the kitchen- that truly ruined the whole experience.
Not to mention, my friend had just purchased a $36 dollar pie in addition to the overpriced breakfast, so it really felt like a slap in the face. Given the money spent and the fact that we never got any apology.
I live in New York, and people say New Yorkers are rude, but in 8 years, a manager or wait staff has never ever treated...
Read moreDuring my stay in Boston, I found a cafe that quickly became my favorite. I visited super early in the morning. Since they have just opened for the day, the inside was still quite with just a handful of customers. The inside was large but cozy and inviting. They had lots of small round tables, and one large communal table in the middle. It got pretty packed quickly, as they are very popular among the locals and visitors alike.
After some struggle with my dessert-loving-self, we ordered 2 desserts with latte to go with it. We were there for the actual breakfast, but since they make them to order, we decided to have desserts while we wait for the food.
During this visit, we got Hazelnut Praline & Cinnamon Latte, Matcha Latte, Pistachio Crush, Belgian Chocolate Mousse Cake, Croque Madame, and Shakshuka with Lamb Meatball & Labneh. They were all super delicious, high quality and just soothes your body and soul good!
The staffs were very friendly and nice. Within 30 min of opening, it was nearly full house! With their delicious lattes and food, no wonder they are super popular. They certainly had my heart after one visit, and I just couldn’t stay away… So, we went back again on another morning.
On the second visit, we ordered few different items, and they were all excellent as well. The staffs on this day were friendly and nice as the ones from the previous day. Thank Tatte for having such awesome place for us to enjoy great latte, food...
