I had heard good things about Pink Taco so decided to try it out for myself, for Taco Tuesday. My friend and I ordered the queso fundido, 7 tacos, and two drinks. The appetizer took a while to come out, and came with flour tortillas which was good, but my friend later asked the server for chips. We asked a total of 3 times for these chips. After ordering our drinks we ordered our tacos. My friend ordered three tacos, The OG Pink Taco, Baja Fish, and Crispy Avocado. I ordered The OG Pink Taco, 2 Carne Asada, and The Bell. I’m a picky eater so I asked to switch the corn tortillas for flour/and to remove some toppings. The server didn’t seem to write down all my modifications which was a bit odd. My friend also requested for corn tortillas instead of flour when applied. We waited a while, and when the food came out, it was five tacos, so I still had to wait for two of mine, except I was unsure what tacos were mine. The server had to actually switch the tacos around and then my friend ended up switching them again. The tacos I had received were two The Bell tacos with everything on them, but two different tortillas. I scraped everything off I didn’t ask for and waited for the rest of my meal. The other two tacos came, it was two carne asadas, okay great—except once again had to scrape everything off I didn’t ask for. At this point the tacos were bare so I requested for more cheese and the tortillas were wrong so I asked for flour tortillas on the side to just make my own. I tried to explain to the server but the server told us that since it’s taco Tuesday modifications are harder for the kitchen. Honestly doesn’t make much sense considering had I asked for certain things to not be included it would’ve been an easier taco to assemble. Having no modifications makes it seem as though these tacos are set in stone and not prepared to order, which isn’t true. The food I could kind of eat was good but the fact that I had to jump through several hoops was very discouraging and frustrating. My friend and I’s requests were simple things to adhere to, and the restaurant was not very busy when we went in. Our food took a while as well and the constant back and forth about modifying tacos and requesting chips, as I said was frustrating. The overall environment is cute but the service and kitchen guidelines is poor to serving their guests appropriately and fulfilling their requests. I did not end up eating the tacos that I received later and our server took all my tacos off the bill which I appreciated because it was just not what I ordered. I appreciate the wanting to explain and try but it’s hard to judge whether this was kitchen laziness or server miscommunication. While we waited and during our meal we noticed several other complaints of messed up orders from the other tables around us so it’s truly hard to decide who is at fault. The drinks were fine, ordered a Beauty School Dropout Margarita, friend ordered a beer...

Read moreI went to Pink Taco for a birthday dinner and unfortunately it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The food was terrible and the kitchen was extremely slow. We were there for a birthday dinner and did not want to upset the birthday girl by complaining, but otherwise would have asked for most of the food to be taken off the bill.
The vibe here is very fun, and our waitress was wonderful. However, we waited a full 30 minutes for some very simple appetizers, and then another hour after that for our meals, and we were absolutely starving by the time they arrived. Our waitress was apologetic but that kind of wait is totally unacceptable and we should have at least been offered some free chips or something to hold us over while we waited.
The $15 mango margarita had barely any alcohol in it. We got chips and guacamole, the chips were stale and flavorless, and the guacamole had huge chunks of avocado so you couldn’t scoop it at all. I had to cut it up into smaller pieces on my plate just so I could get it onto the chip, and this too had hardly any flavor. We also ordered some “papas fritas” for the table, which the menu described as being dusted with a chili-lime seasoning and served with an aioli, and what we received were crinkle cut fries that I could have picked up from the frozen section of the grocery store, no seasoning to be found, and a sad cupful of plain mayo on the side. This was not restaurant quality food whatsoever, we would have been better off at a Taco Bell.
For dinner, we all ordered tacos, and were disappointed to find out that you must have 3 of the same tacos, you can’t mix and match, and they no longer come with rice and beans. The fish taco contained a piece of greasy, heavily breaded fish and was smothered in a huge squeeze of mayo. The signature pink taco contained nothing but dry chicken and a lot of lettuce; no sauce, no other toppings. The pork in the carnitas taco was also dry and overcooked. The avocado tacos were the most edible thing we got, but disappointing nonetheless, as they are described as “crispy” but the breading was like cardboard. I will say that the apple pie burrito we got for dessert was actually pretty good.
Needless to say, I will not be returning, and I recommend taking your business elsewhere, there are many better Mexican restaurants...
