I have a soft spot for this restaurant after many years of great meals and excellent service. The food here is wonderful - by far my favorite place for Veggie Thai Rolls, and the Chicken Satay is excellent. For many years, the portions were quite reasonable, but in recent visits I've found the Chicken Satay orders have been shrinking. Nevertheless, I would recommend this Thai restaurant as one of my favorites.
They have some amazing dessert ice creams - coconut, ginger, and green tea - I recommend the coconut!
The staff are very friendly and love large parties - in fact I've often seen the owner visit tables to check in with guests and to visit. Call ahead for reservations. During Halloween season, show up early for meal times, since this restaurant is easily packed with tourists in October.
Parking is available in the museum place mall lot, which fills easily, but there's also a garage and limited street parking nearby. Debit and credit cards accepted, and an ATM is available nearby...
Read moreBeing new to Allston, I've been meaning to try all the restaurants around me, and seeing how this place is only short walk from my apartment I gave it a shot after work.
I like that the menu's are QR codes (save paper), and the menu items have good photos and the prices are reasonable. Also, this place is amongst some of the later closing ones.
Had a tough time choosing on a single appetizer, so I got their sampler which was actually really filling for what it was. The sauces are homemade in little cups and everything is seasons and tasted good. The fried chicken had some burnt ends, but I appreciate a burnt end every now and then.
The staff was friendly, however the space itself is pretty small. Good to take a date, but it can easily feel overcrowded. When I ordered it was to-go which was ready hot in 15min.
Definitely going again to try more of the menu as the sampler was missing some of the key apps I was hoping to get....
Read moreOrdered pickup from Thai Place for the first time today after doing some research and what a great joint!
Food: Delicious. The chicken pad thai was just the right amount of sweet and sour. The noodles were cooked well - not under or overdone or overly sticky or drenched in sauce. The chicken was still moist, which tends to be the issue when I order pad thai. The beef pad thai was equally delicious. The crab fried rice had a little kick to it, which was a very pleasant surprise. You could see the crab meat in it, and the flavors were wonderfully balanced.
Service: I ordered online and swung in to grab my stuff, but the folks behind the counter were incredibly sweet. They had masks on, and a plexiglass barrier. I can only imagine how lovely it would be to eat inside someday. :)
My party and I agreed that this will be our go-to spot for Thai food now. Next on my list is the...
