This was our first time visiting The Chicken Shack in Boulder City, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing — mainly due to the behavior of the woman working, who seemed to be the manager, cashier, and server all in one.
We were unfamiliar with the menu, and I initially placed our order but came back shortly after because my wife wanted a different sauce. Instead of being understanding or helpful, she responded with a rude and condescending attitude, almost lecturing me as if I had done something wrong. It was embarrassing, especially in front of other customers, and all I wanted was some basic clarification.
Later, I was standing near the soda station and she suddenly shouted that I couldn’t stand there. I asked her, “I can’t stand here?” and again, her tone was unnecessarily aggressive. It felt like I was being singled out and treated as a problem rather than a customer. I had already told her we were sitting outside since we had our dog, so there was no reason for the hostility.
At one point, I took a photo of the place — and that’s when she came outside to apologize. Her exact words were something like, “I saw you took a picture and that you’re going to post a Yelp review, so I’m going to apologize.” To me, it felt like the apology wasn’t sincere, but more because she realized she got caught. By that point, I was already upset and too embarrassed to say anything, especially with a line of people behind me who witnessed the whole interaction.
We were genuinely hungry and excited to try this place, but the way she treated me completely ruined the experience and killed our appetite. It’s unfortunate how one person’s attitude can change your whole mood. I hope management takes this seriously, because no customer should be made to feel that way — especially not on their...
Read moreI’m leaving this review because I think the health department needs to check this place out. The moment I walked into the restaurant, it smelled strange. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I didn’t want to inconvenience my family, so I didn’t say anything. It didn’t seem very clean and felt run-down.
After ordering, my family and I waited outside for the food. We saw two separate groups of people leave before ordering. One group was talking loudly about how they could smell the rotten seed oil and that they would never eat there. That’s when it dawned on me.
The food was overpriced, and we had already ordered and been waiting for 15 minutes. We decided to wait and see if the food also smelled bad and ended up waiting another 10 minutes. Sure enough, our food did smell, and after a little research, rotten seed oil was the only explanation for that very distinct odor.
I couldn’t bear to eat my food and completely lost my appetite. I felt bad for the woman working there, as it seemed she and maybe one other person were doing the work of four or more people. She seemed stressed, and the wait time was unusually long considering the type of food and the fact that only one person had ordered before us.
Anyway, I hope this prevents others from making the same mistake we did by going here. I’m disappointed and...

Hands down, some of the best wings I've ever had. Big, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.
I went for the bone-in wings, the wife went for the boneless wings. The wings are breaded (so they are not naked), and this serves to soak up their sauce just fine. Just a heads up; the wings are so saucy that we found the sauce permeated the paper that the wings were served on. As the wings are served on a thin piece of paper, which sits in a plastic wire basket, my thoughts are that the heavy amount of sauce, and its acidity, eat away at the paper. Towards the end of the meal, we noted some holes in the paper and the pieces that tore away were mixed in with the sauce. I'd go so far to say that I probably ate a couple of pieces of the paper, but you know what? It was worth it. The wings are that good.
And the fries. While the wings are some of the best I've ever had, the fries are easily the best fries that I have ever had. And, we stopped in right after they opened for the day. So obviously they were nice and fresh; my point being, some places might have used the oil from the day before resulting in some not-so-fresh fries. Not these guys.
Last tip: use the restroom; you'll...
