I recently had a disconcerting experience at a Burger King in Boulder, Colorado, that compels me to reflect seriously on customer service and the ethics of access to facilities. After a lively soccer game, I took my children to this establishment, anticipating a simple, enjoyable meal. To our dismay, we were confronted with a locked bathroom policy that seemed more suited to a dystopian narrative than a family-friendly restaurant. My children, eager and in need of the restroom, were denied access under a stringent “customers only” rule. Such policies are not unheard of, but the application in this case was draconic and, frankly, inhumane. The necessity to use a restroom, especially for young children, should not be leveraged as a bargaining chip to ensure a purchase. I have traversed this nation, visiting a myriad of fast-food chains in my professional capacity in architecture, and never have I encountered a policy enforced with such apparent disregard for basic human needs.More disquieting than the policy itself was the demeanor of the staff, who seemed to find a sense of satisfaction in wielding this power. The insistence on allowing only one person in the restroom at a time, when clearly there was an urgent need, was unnecessary and punitive. It was not lost on me, the irony that this occurred in Boulder—a city known for its progressivism and advocacy for human rights. In this moment, Burger King did not merely lock a door; they shut down the principles of compassion and customer service. Such an approach to policy enforcement, especially directed at children, is unacceptable and should be addressed with utmost seriousness. It undermines the trust and goodwill that families, like mine, extend to establishments we choose...
Read moreAdam and Mason are extremely pleased with the Burger King located off 28th street. My...SON, is only 10 1/2. He went to grab a quick bite to eat at lunch. He was feeling ill that day so I kept him out of school. When he came home, he had realized he got to wrong order. He was upset, and too embarrassed and weak from being ill to walk back. He also is not very skilled at "conflict management" yet, seeing as how he is only 10. He asked me if I would do it for him, and of course, being the straight forward father I am, I was willing to do this for him. I arrived at Burger King a few hours later and thankfully, I spoke with the most gracious manager Gwen, who was more than willing to correct a mistake that was most likely mySons fault. She was skilled at her job, she was interested in what happened, and most importantly, she listened to my "problem" so she could find the easiest solution to fix the issue. It was a 3 or 4 dollar mistake and she understood immediately it made no sense to make mySon suffer any more than he had to.
Gwen, you are a beacon of light. A gleaming example of excellence on how to truly execute a 10 star customer service experience.
Gwen, Google only lets me give you 5 stars, but in my book, "A1" 10 Star certified, with experience, wisdom and knowledge that truly transcends time and space. You are an artist, and I am so impressed with how you handled "O.U.R" situation.
Yours truly, Adam...
Read moreI am specifically talking about the Burger King on 28th Street right next to McDonald's on 28th Street in Boulder Colorado, every time I have went there through the drive-thru at night the night time manager which is an older white dude is really rude and really disrespectful and every time I go through there I end up getting shorted on what I've ordered for example tonight shortly after 8:00 me and two friends went through there we ordered five double cheeseburgers one regular cheeseburger with extra cheese and a small french fry and we ended up getting shorted one double cheeseburger when we look for our receipt in our bag we were not giving a receipt. We've had instances where we have been shorted burgers french fries and other items as well it is my strong belief that you need to get a different night manager he was yelling so loud at core workers when we pulled up to the drive up window we were shocked it seems like every time we go in there in person or we go through the drive-thru this guy is just short temper and always yelling which is very unprofessional.. Also 8 out of 10 times our burgers are cold and this is highly disappointing since most of us love Burger King over all the other fast food restaurants.. My hopes is that you would correct this behavior and get a night manager in there that is professional courteous and...
