Here is what I love: the place is brand new and very clean, some of the foods are more savory than their competition because of smart emphasis on flavors, but more on that later. There are a wide selection of aqua frescas to choose from. The only one I would consider is the cucumber version, because it is less sweet than the other flavors we got to sample. My two companions' favorites are the strawberry fresca. While it has some fresh strawberries, the drink is filled with much sugar to be wholesome. Near the end of the meal, he felt discomfort in the stomach because of too much sugar. We really liked the wholesome tasting burrito (well balanced with natural flavors), and the individual tacos were filled with lots of meats and were nicely balanced with finely chopped onions, the birria ramen was a great concept but exceedingly salty, lending more than half of it uneaten because it's simply a bowl of prepackaged ramen noodle (comes in the same packaging and with the dry ingredients, designed to be salty when you pour water in it, but with the birria meat that's been nicely simmered for hours (cooked in savory flavor) submersed into the already salty ramen soup. Good food lies on natural flavors that are not enhanced with sugar and salt. This is meant to be 3.5 star. Two drinks, a burrito, 2 small individual quesadillas & 2 tacos without any beans/rice, 1 birria...
Read moreAll I can say is WOW, get here now because this place is the real deal! Absolutely phenomenal. Was so excited to see a new, authentic Mexican restaurant opening in Boulder and the food did not disappoint. We got the birriaquesas, tortas, elotes en vasa with Takis, and aguas frescas. The birria is insanely flavorful and melts in your mouth. Everything was absolutely delicious and the quality is really good and fresh! Portion sizes are really generous, I ordered two birriaquesas tacos and barely made it through them both but enjoyed every bite with the birria consommé. I really cannot express how much I enjoyed this first experience here and how warm the staff are. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and excited to share the food with people who have never tried it before. They even let us sample the aguasfrescas without even asking! I truly hope business for them in Boulder thrives because I will definitely be a regular customer and can’t wait to make my way through all of the treats, drinks, and meals on their menu. This location is special too, because they are the only one that offers a full food menu and not just treats and snacks. I am so impressed and thrilled to have a new go-to. Do not sleep on this family run GEM, Boulder, run don’t walk!...
Read moreIf you look at my profile, it's quite rare for me to review places, and if i do, it's because i had a poor experience. That's not the case here. Coming from a home with a Hispanic mother, I've had authentic Mexican food most of my life. When visiting new places that are known for their Mexican food I try to find a place that doesn't look or seem disappointing to me, especially with how my mom cooks. Que Rico was one of the best "bigger" Mexican restaurants I've been to. The service was great, the food was amazing, and if it could be made from scratch it was or it was bought locally(like their torta bread.) Speaking of torta's, this place had one of the best I've had since my mom's if you haven’t had torta's before or you're looking for a good one. Que Rico is your place. They also have a texmex menu for those who don't quite vibe with authentic Mexican food. For drinks I highly recommend their mango or cantaloupe juice. It's both refreshing and made fresh per request. 10/10 I...
