Learn moreIn the words of my 2 year old, “yuckie”. I can’t speak for the quality of food during peak season, but I can say we just went on October 21st 2024. First off the server didn’t bother to get our silverware. I had to hunt down an employee to get some for me. The server was more interested in talking about giving her a tip if she did well, rather than actually doing well. She sat a different group of guests at the table in front of us and when they requested a different seat the server made a face behind their backs because it inconvenienced her.
The manager and cooks all need to taste the piles of worthless garbage they put out for people to eat. One of the dishes was “Fried Rice”. Somehow they made it taste like straight onion. I have had better fried rice from a Panda Express than this place. The croissant roll was exceptionally dry with no butter or glaze. The regular rolls were slightly burnt. Every single cookie was burnt, every muffin had a burnt texture. It was so bad my kids didn’t eat a single item from the Hot section of the buffet. I only ate 2 small pieces of stale pizza before telling the server we were leaving. We paid $51 for two adults and two children as the youngest 2 ate for free due to their age. The food was so incredibly bad that none of my kids would eat. One of the youngest kids just looked at his plate after taking a bite of Mac ‘n Cheese and simply stated “yuckie”. He tried a bite of each thing on his plate and push it all back and said “yuckie”. All of other kids and my wife agreed.
I asked to speak to the manager who informed me that she could only “discount the kids meals”. This discount took the bill from $51 to $45. In the end I paid $45 for food my family could not eat, for service that is well below par, and I still had to pay more money for us to eat some where else. So after I settled the $45 bill we packed up and ate at Mel’s Hard Luck Diner.
My recommendation to improve this place, have the manager and cooks taste the food they produce, fire the waiting staff and get a better quality staff that is more focused on the customer experience than requesting tips. Finally fire the manager who forces guests to pay for incorrectly prepared burnt garbage.
My recommendation for anyone thinking to eat here, skip over it and go down the street to Mel’s. The food tastes better, they will entertain you, and they treat you great even if it is in the...
Read moreI wish I could give a good review on a restaurant for once, but it's getting harder to find! This place is no exception. I was here back in March on a weekend for the lunch breakfast buffet. We got there just as it was changing from breakfast to lunch. About 15.00 each with drinks and tax. Food was plentiful, fresh and good. Huge variety to choose from and the service was good.
Today I went back around 4:30 or so. Its a Tuesday. Lady at the order line was hateful, barely spoke and curt. She obviously hated her job. Today, one person with tea and tax 25.00. I first noticed it was not a huge selection and most of the steam tables were empty. I started with salads and waited to see if it would fill up. Nope. Only one food carousel had food. I tried the roast beef. Dry and no flavor. Tried the ribs which should have been jerky. About a quarter inch thick if that much. Resembled bacon and so tough you couldn't chew it. Flavor was terrible and unidentifiable. Baby carrots were overcooked and no flavor. The mashed potatoes were good and not powdered. The gravy was okay. The fried okra looked promising, but again no flavor! So, now I'm only having mashed potatoes and gravy for 25.00. So, I go back and try a small chicken fried steak. The gravy was all gone and only the dirty sticky ladle in the pan. I wait. Here comes the new gravy. She leaves the ladle in the dried up gravy pan and takes the new gravy and poured it into the dirty serving pan right on top of the dirty ladle with dried gravy on it and walks away. I fished the ladle from the gravy and put some on the chicken fried steak. I went looking for bread or rolls and a couple of servers were putting some out and finishing their talking while I waited to get a roll finally. They didn't care I was waiting. The chicken fried steak potatoes and gravy were good. I remembered last time I was here they had cobblers, cakes and lots of desserts. So. I go take a look. Nope. Nothing but some cookies ! Very disappointing experience and certainly not worth 25.00 per person. Their are better options I'm sure. I won't go back for sure! Just take a look at whats on the buffet before you pay! Thats what I should have done! Maybe the hateful lady at the order line could have explained if the food was not all out yet or something. I...
