Possibly my fault for coming on a Saturday afternoon to a location that primarily relies on the Monday to Friday business crowd.
I don't know how long they've been in business, but I thought I'd pop in after a swim workout at the Maryland Farms Y. Was so disappointed for many reasons.
The prices on their website - which are copyrighted for 2023 - are DOLLARS lower than the actual prices. Case in point, I got the Mediterranean Sampler w/choice of meat, website listed for $8.99. Actual price was either $11.99 or $12.99. A good amount of food, but still. Which....
I asked for and got wheat pita, yay. They asked if I wanted it warmed and I declined as I knew it would be a while before I got home. While the pita was somewhat frozen - no problem, zap it a bit - it was STALE. Even the second piece, once it thawed, was still rock hard around the edges.
The spanakopita was also stale. Was not flaky, could not cut with a fork. Had to shovel lift it and bite it as if it were a big brownie. Also a bit too salty.
Tabbouleh - hardly any bulgar. Was there mint? Wayyy too much parsley, but that is a personal preference. I prefer Mediterranean tabbouleh which usually has cilantro in it as well.
Hummus - when I opened the container, the hummus was close to rock hard but didn't seem cold. Eventually it softened a bit, and as I added minced garlic and the minced garlic juice, it found a better consistency. But kind of bland to begin with.
Overall, everything was a little too salty, BUT I am salt sensitive and I find American/American-Greek foods tend to pour on the salt.
I will say that the Baba Ganoush was very good. Not awesome (see Edessa for that) but still very good. And yes, the servings were plentiful. Wish I had known about the price differences, but I like trying new places. So I don't totally regret my visit. I might try them again during the work week for a gyro sandwich, but otherwise will likely stick to my regular spot...
Read moreI stopped in here looking for kebabs and apparently they don’t have those. Which is weird for a place called kebab gyros. The line was chaotic, so they ended up helping someone who came after me first and we both got food before the people who ordered before us.
The gyros looked a little dry and the chicken looked good, so I got a chicken sandwich (same idea as gyro but protein swapped) and fries. The fries were mediocre, but fine. The chicken was awful. It looked seasoned but tasted like nothing at all. After a few bites, I tried smothering it in the sauce they sent with it which I assumed was tzatziki. It was ranch dressing. I like ranch as much as the next guy, but it had no place in this middle eastern/Mediterranean meal. I threw 75% of the meal away. The guys working were perfectly nice and the food was pretty cheap. If you go, maybe just get the gyros.
TLDR: no kebabs, mediocre fries, tasteless chicken,...
Read moreLocation in a strip mall across from Chuey's. The great things about this place, the price, amount of food, and great service. If you like Gyros, you will love this place. The amount of meat in a combo plate for $14 can feed 2 people easily.
We ordered the mix grill, Gyros combo with rice pilaf. The accompaniments we chose were tabouleh, cucumber, feta, and cucumbers. Its is without saying, when you smell the spices before biting into your food, you know it's going to be good. The gyro and chicken are grilled and packed with flavor. The rice pilaf alone is a bit bland but when mixed with the meat, it balances the flavors of the meats and is quite enjoyable. The gyro sandwich is priced at $10 and so worth the price. The sauce is more of a ranch base but blends well with the tabouleh, cucumber, and feta in the...
