My wife and I have made three, 4am jaunts to IHOP for breakfast as of late, on the first of which I had the Spicy Pablano Omelet, which I greatly enjoyed and lit me on fire within the first two bites.
Since that 1st experience was so deliciously & enjoyably "Hot" we kind-of decided to ignore the shoddy service "though I always tip extremely well" and give them another visit for a repeat performance.
Unfortunately, though I ordered the exact same breakfast, the omelet was entirely different, had perhaps two, flavorless/heatless slices of pablano peppers, the shredded beef was dried out as if left underneath a heat lamp for too long and the edges of the omelet eggs were overcooked. Though disappointed with the food and service, I again left a 35% tip thinking that even a millenial democrat should be able to listen, take note and appreciate us for our clear belief that food workers rely on tips to feed their families and or put themselves through school.
On our third and final 4am jaunt to IHOP yesterday morning, I again ordered the spicy pablano omelet, while my poor wife ordered the new menu item "Cream Cheese filled Cannoli".
The same waitress we had on all 3 visits, who by now is expecting to complete the 105% with my 3rd 35% tip, came to the table to advise us that they could not find the "stuff" to fill the cannoli so my wife changed her order to the strawberry crepe "very thinly cooked pancake mix with canned strawberry syrup on top" while the cook is yelling from the back to be careful with the hashbrowns because mine was the last order they had and asking where the shredded cheddar was.
Amazingly enough, this 3rd and final opportunity IHOP had to get my spicy pablano omelet right was even worse that their 2nd failure.
My omelet had no pablano peppers in it, the shredded beef was yet again, dried completely out with salsa pour onto it in a half-hearted attempt to rehydrate it, the edges of the eggs were overcooked, the cheddar was actually burned and the only real flavor the omelet had was from the copious amount of Tabasco Sauce I applied in an attempt to make it palatable.
When I saw the condition of the omelet upon delivery, I figured "oh well" at least I got the last of the hashbrowns so I'll eat them first. Again I was very disappointed to find that the cook had cooked the hashbrowns first so that they were delivered cold with the cold greasy film and flavor.
Ultimately, I cut all edges from the omelet, scraped the dried shredded beef and burned cheddar to the side and ate the eggs, taking the bulk of the shredded beef and cheese to my dog who was happily waiting for us in the car. He enjoyed it.
Since I will never darken their doorway again, I went ahead and left the clueless millennial democrat her final 35% installment while I waited 10 minutes to have my money taken.
You may have a better experience with a different shift and if you chance it, I sincerely wish you luck. As for me and mine, we will never return to this particular location.
By-the-way, they admitted that pretty much nothing they serve is made from...
Read moreThe server, Caleb, was great. However, with one disappointment after another (some with no remedy), I will probably choose another location. If I must go there, I will never order anything but breakfast.
I made arrangements for a group to meet and me to work several hours on my laptop ... but the group room we were supposed to share was not available/ready when we arrived (but it looked available--plenty of seats). The second time I called, the person who answered didn't inform the manager that I spoke to the first time.
They offered a booth first and we could move when the other space was ready. Since I had a laptop to set up, I didn't want to do that twice. We still had more people coming and said we would wait instead. We waited almost 30 minutes!
After the long wait, we were NOT in the group room but in the part of the main area where tables could be moved together.
No outlets existed, which I needed for my several hours of work on a laptop (no one informed me of this on my two previous phone calls--I would have chosen another location). I decided I could go to another location afterwards.
Salads only had one choice of dressing: ranch.
I ordered a melt--chicken/cheese/bacon/avocado/tomato--sounded wonderful. It was kind of falling apart when it arrived, so I pulled back the top to see inside. The whole table laughed. There was barely enough cheese on the bread to make it known that there was cheese at all. I mentioned it to the waiter. I didn't mind at all if he just brought slices of cheese. He insisted on having the cook add cheese and heat it up so it was melty--like a melt should be.
I was glad because the bread was so dry and I thought another trip to the pan or grill would mean more butter. I actually told the waiter thay if it went on the grill again, it could use a generous amount of butter. Nope! Also a "no" on enough cheese to be melty. I gave up.
The bacon was so floppy and fatty that I couldn't bite through it. I dissected the sandwich, dissected the bacon, and pieced it back together with the meaty bits.
It still tasted bad. I removed the tomatoes (which I usually love). That fixed the taste somewhat. I drank a lot of water and coffee to get the dryness down. It was the second-worst sandwich experience I have had.
If this was my ONLY disappointing experience at this location, I wouldn't post. I like to give businesses another shot or two or three. And I know businesses have struggled since the pandemic. I just keep having repeats of bad experiences at this location. Most have been understandable, but this one kind of broke my desire to continue...
Read moreMy sister and I love the food and coffee here, but tonight was are third time coming here and receiving HORRIBLE service! The waiters are never fully attentive, and takes forever to be seated, to order, get are meal and pay. But tonight confirmed that we will never return! When it came to pay our ticket, the total was $25.22. We had a $25.00 gift card, but we always want to tip, (even though we had no idea who are actual server was). So we added a $20.00 bill with the cad, and asked for change back of course. It took another good 15 minutes before another server we never talked to all night came over telling us the card broke there machine and that he personally felt responsible for the lack of service, (when again he never even talk to us and had no reason to be apologetic). If anything our unattentive server or better yet MANAGER, who only walks around lazily never asking how things are going, should be the one apologizing. ... Anywho the random server pays our $25.22 ticket. But that still left the whole extra $20.00 we gave our server who had disappeared. He had NO idea there was an extra $20.00 given, and they all scrambled about to collect the money. ... I have NEVER had this happen, a server not mentioning the extra cash, and not giving it back! The excuse of our cards messing up their machine is an absolute LIE, We have paid dozens of times with the same style of $25.00 gift cards and NEVER ran into this problem. It's not new for them, like the random server tried to explain, it's the 21st century where giftcard payment is common as credit card and cash pay, (and again we usually always pay this way). What they should have apologized for and given reason to pay for our meal is for the lack of service, caring, attentiveness, and overall respect. ... We finally, (after another 15 minutes) got our twenty broken up into dollars back, and for the first time ever at a restaurant we did not tip, for we again didn't know who the tip was going to, and by this time felt VERY aggitated and uncared for. We were so ready to leave at this point, (Arriving at 6:00, and leaving at 8:30), that we left our take out boxes behind. It takes a heck of A LOT, to make any of us forget the main part of the visit, (i.e.the food). We will NEVER return to IHop especially at this location. Bad, slow, unattentive service is bad enough, but the money issue and fabrications make me never want to put my trust in a business like...
