Last summer I attended some kind of "Best of Boston" event at City Hall where you pay like $25 to try foods from 50+ local restaurants. Well Michael's Deli was out of food within the 1st hour and I don't think any other booth was. The owner, a man is his 40's, was very defensive about being out of food and was all like "we've fed 100+ people in the first hour" - etc. etc. Well that may have been the case, but the point is that you were out of food and no one else was. You did not bring enough food which was either poor planning or trying to be very frugal. Because so many people were going to his booth and he was out of food, he "left" his booth which to me is the biggest "sore loser" move one could do. Be a man. Tell people you screwed up and are out of food. But no, Michael's Deli "ran" from their problems and I'll never forget it. Own your brand, your integrity but leaving your booth because you didn't want to continue to explain to paying customers you were out of food is something a child would do. Or a poor...
Read moreI live in the Sturbridge area, but I have a niece that went to Boston University, and several years ago I was listening to the radio (Howie Carr) and they had a great deal on gift cards to Micheals Deli, so I ordered a few and sent them to my niece, but apparently I didn’t send all of them, I found one still in the envelope in my trunk. Today my son was competing in a sports event in Boston so I decided to stop in and ask if my gift card was still good even though it was several years old. IT WAS!!! The man behind the counter could not have been nicer, he let me go through the menu, made suggestions, I ordered a Rueben for me and Smoked ham for my son. The Rueben was fantastic. I’m debating whether I should give my son his smoked ham when I pick him up, or hide it in the trunk and save it for me later. I rarely drive in to Boston from where I’m at in Sturbridge, but it only took a few minutes off the Mass pike, parking wasn’t an issue because it was Saturday, and the food was excellent. I’ll be...
Read moreI was leaving the UPS Store, I smelled an amazing Deli. I walked in and saw the owner working and said this is my first time what do you suggest and he says I don't know. I said what's better the corned beef or the pastrami? He replied it's whatever we do it all. I ordered my sandwich I got it and there was less than 3 oz of meat on the total sandwich. I look around the entire dining room and see mounds of meat on everybody else's sandwiches and I think to myself why me why do I get a sandwich with no meat in it.
I Can't Tell You Why. Maybe it's cuz I'm not Jewish, who knows. Whatever it was a disappointment... but even more disappointing was watching the owner talk to a man who ask for coleslaw. The man ask for a coleslaw from the bottom so it's still moist and the owner says oh sure of course, and when the old man turned around the owner patronized him by making funny faces to his staff
Won't be back, I also don't like the fact that he is cash only, pay...
