I hate to write reviews like this, but after a few recent dealings, I feel compelled to write this. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 3 years and almost every week have been spending anywhere between $50 - $100. The food has been great up until a few months ago, but because I have been coming to this place for such a long time, I still continued to give them business, especially since restaurants have been hit so hard during the pandemic and I wanted to do what I can to make sure they stayed open. About 3 weeks ago, I bought food for 6 people plus appetizers (you can estimate the bill amount) and I asked them for 3 fish sauces on the side (the containers are very small). Since I have been coming here for so long, I did not think this would be such an unreasonable ask. The person at the counter said I would have to pay 50 cents each for the fish sauce. I was quite surprised by this especially since I have never had to do this before, even throughout the pandemic and this was a pretty big purchase I was making. Nevertheless I paid it.
The next unsettling event happened last week when I placed an order for 4 people (for my office) and an additional Thai Iced Tea. When I went to the counter I asked them specifically if they had already made the tea or not. They said they hadn’t yet and I asked them if they could take it off the bill as I realized I didn’t want it anymore. The Thai Iced Tea costs $3.50. The person at the counter proceeded to tell me that I can never again place an order on the phone, and that I would have to come and wait in line to place an order.
It is with much regret I am writing this one star review. As I said, the food quality had already decreased over the past few months, but I continued to go there since I thought I knew them. Regardless of the amount of business one gives them, I believe customers should be treated better (I myself run a small business and work endlessly to make sure that my customers are treated well). I cannot imagine treating anyone like this. I would NOT recommend this place any longer. The food is no longer good, and you leave with a bad taste in your mouth after being...
Read moreMy party of 5 came in 10 minutes before the kitchen closed, and the staff was very nice in explaining that they had a hard stop in 40 minutes. They didn't rush us to make our order, and all the food came out super fast. It was easy to get the staffed attention, even though they were pretty packed, and in the middle of cleaning/closing up. After, it was easy to get our check and pay, as well as to get plenty of to-go containers for all of our food and drink. Staff and service get a 5/5.
I tried the Boat Noodle Soup, Massaman Curry on rice, and Soft Shell Crab on rice, as well as both the Thai iced tea and the tropical Thai iced tea. My favorite was the Boat Noodle soup, with the Soft Shell Crab coming in a very close second. The drinks were refreshing and didn't taste watered down. The food gets a 6/5 for speed, flavor, and portion size.
The restaurant itself is cozy, has an extremely adorable logo, and is very clean for a shop that has such quick service/turnover. The restroom was really clean, which is always nice. Nobody wants to wash their hands before a meal in a gross bathroom. Even with disposable chopsticks, the ambiance gets a 5/5. It's comfortable to sit with a party of 1, 2 or 6.
Overall my entire party really enjoyed our dinner. They could have easily been curt, rushed us in and out, or even turned us away. The food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable for the large portion sizes. I'm looking forward...
Read moreTonight my Boston Thai food take out experience has changed. Possibly permanently.
I ordered Pad Thai, Peking Ravioli, Scallion Pancakes, Fried Chive Dumplings, and a Pineapple Yellow Curry with Tofu.
Holy tofu. This food was delivered by a third party. I’m not sure if we got lucky and lived close to the restaurant, or if we happened to be the first stop for the delivery. Our food was as hot, or more hot than I would expect it to be even if I was eating in person at the restaurant.
Not only was it hot, it was ducking delicious. The Pad Thai was nice and saucy. (i.e. NOT dry noodles with peanuts on top), the Peking Raviolis were adorable little things, folded like I had not seen before. The chive dumpling things were so delicious, and the scallion pancakes were more substantial than most others I’ve had. My friend ate the tofu curry and also said it was delicious.
Overall this food was exceptional. If I felt inclined to mark anything down at all it would solely be the Peking ravioli. It’s more of a preference thing, but I like them to have thicker/doughier wrappers. These were still good, just smaller than anything I had before this. The pork inside was cooked just right and so weren’t the dumplings themself. just mentioning this incase you’re expecting the large hefty dumplings from a place like home taste in Watertown.
Overall, this is an easy 5 star review. Thanks for the awesome...
