I went to PF Chang's for my first time today and am not impressed. Before I went, I signed up for their loyalty program and was supposed to get a welcome dessert free. When I tried to order from the app, it would not apply the coupon. I then went to PF Chang's to order in person. When I was redirected from the main entrance to the side (pickup) entrance to place the order, I found no one at the cash register there and had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to show up. I arrived in the noon hour, so someone should have been there.
The fellow rang up the order but were unable to apply the dessert coupon. He called in a manager who was able to get me the dessert for free.
In addition to the regular lunch special, I also ordered a cup of soup which, according to the app should have been $3.59 as an add-on. The fellow rang it up as a stand-alone for $5.99. When I pointed out the discrepancy, he basically just shrugged and said that that was how he punched it in. He then disappeared back into the kitchen. When someone else wandered out from the kitchen a few minutes later, I asked her if I could speak to the manager again. Another few minutes later, she came out. When I explained the situation she said that she never used the app and hadn't known about the price difference. I showed her the price on the app and she then did credit the difference back to me.
Incidentally, while I was waiting for my order to be made, one fellow came in, waited for a few minutes for someone to come out to take his order, looked at his watch, and then left without ordering since no staff members had come out to help him. Another woman who had place a pickup order waited for perhaps five minutes before anyone came out of the kitchen to assist her.
The Mongolian beef was quite tasty, but the portion was small; I would estimate it as being just over half a cup. The fried rice was mediocre. The egg rolls were fairly good; I was pleasantly surprised that two were included in the luncheon special. The soup was also pretty good, but not outstanding.
I will say that the takeout order was thoughtfully packed. There was a vent hole for the steam in the egg roll portion of the tray so the egg rolls did remain crispy The soup container was put into a closed plastic bag so that if it leaked it wouldn't make a mess. More complimentary fortune cookies were included than I had anticipated.
I will try the restaurant one more time to use up a gift card I have, but unless they wow me during that visit, I will never go back after that.
TLDR: Most of the food was decent but not exceptional. The entree was delicious but the portion was small. The app did not work properly. The restaurant appeared to be short-staffed and customers had to wait several minutes before they could speak to someone on staff. There were two different problems on my order which together, had I not paid careful attention, would have resulted in my paying almost 30% more than I rightfully owed. I had had high hopes for the restaurant, but I am...
Read moreI was so looking forward to coming to the New PF Chang's in Christiana. However I've never been to a PF Chang's where my feet stuck to the floor! They must not clean in-between customers. Never have I been to a nice restaurant that someone before me spills a drink and I'm sticking to the floor. Maybe clean the floor and not just the table!
This is a ghetto PF Chang's. The floor looks like a cracked, concrete school yard and they didn't do a lot of decorating. The hostess asked at least 3 times how many people we had? Three. The answer was three.
Crimson Tiger long island iced tea was basically non-alcoholic, artificial, lemonade. Would never get it again here, unless our waitress Phoebe picked up the wrong drinks. She made every excuse why they didn't taste right to us, insisting they were made correctly, instead of simply asking if we'd like something else. They didn't even taste like there was alcohol in them, and obviously didn't have any Coke because they were just glasses of thick, yellow liquid that tasted like lemon Dawn dish soap. Other PF Chang's make it awesome and we've enjoyed that exact drink in the past.
Street noodles also are very spicy here! This has been my go-to order at P.F. Chang's for years, never had them this spicy. I didn't bother bringing that up at the time because I didn't want to hear another lecture about why they were actually made perfectly and how my perception was wrong.
Phoebe also kept calling me "baby, sweetie, my love" - my love?? I'm not your kid. My husband and I thought it was a little much. She wears a mask of politeness but is very unprofessional. She wasn't the only letdown, as she obviously told a manager about our disappointment, since the drinks were removed from the tab. There were multiple managers rushing about, and two even said hello but then kept moving. None of them took a second to inquire about our dissatisfaction. We weren't expecting the world, just a single crumb of personal interest.
The experience was a big letdown, and my husband and I decided right there at the table we would never come back. Their regional bosses need to come in and see what they're doing to their only Delaware location.
It's a shame because we normally love a PF Chang's and were genuinely excited for one in our new home state, since we've been missing them since moving from NJ. Maybe if we had a different waitress it might have been different, I don't know.....
Edit Just remembered - we didn't get fortune cookies, either! That's a small thing but always been a PF...
Read moreI just had dinner at P.F. Chang’s, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it! The place has such a cool vibe—chic, but not overly fancy, so it felt relaxed but special. I started with the Chang’s Lettuce Wraps, and I can see why they’re so popular. The combination of ground chicken, water chestnuts, and a sweet soy-based sauce was packed with flavor, and the lettuce was so crisp—it made for a perfect bite.
For the main course, I went with the Mongolian Beef, and wow, it did not disappoint. The beef was super tender, coated in this amazing sauce that had just the right mix of sweetness and saltiness. It came with a generous portion of rice on the side, and the whole dish was comforting but still had a little kick to it.
I also had to try the Dynamite Shrimp—definitely one of the highlights. Crispy, perfectly fried shrimp tossed in this creamy, spicy sauce that gave it a nice zing without being overwhelming. I couldn't stop picking at it.
By the time I got to dessert, I was stuffed, but I made room for the Chocolate Lava Cake. The cake was so rich, and when I cut into it, that gooey center just oozed out—definitely worth the extra calories. Plus, the vanilla ice cream that came with it was the perfect contrast to all the chocolatey richness.
Service was solid, although it did slow down a bit when it got busy. But the staff was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly. Overall, I left feeling super satisfied. Definitely a place I’d come back to when I’m craving something flavorful with a...
