Tucked away in a vibrant corner of Buena Park, Sushi Mura is a delightful culinary haven that offers a perfect blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and a warm, inviting atmosphere. My recent visit to this charming establishment left me thoroughly impressed, and I’m excited to share my experience.

Food: 9.5/10
The menu at Sushi Mura is extensive, offering a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes. We decided to sample a range of items, and each dish exceeded our expectations.
Chicken Teriyaki: The chicken teriyaki was a standout dish. The chicken was perfectly grilled, tender, and juicy, glazed with a rich teriyaki sauce that struck a perfect balance between sweet and savory. Served with a side of steamed rice and grilled onions, this dish was both satisfying and comforting. The onions, adding a nice contrast to the tender chicken.
Cheese Corn: This dish was a delightful surprise! A unique twist on traditional Japanese fare, the cheese corn was a creamy, cheesy delight topped with sweet corn and a hint of seasoning. The combination of flavors was indulgent and comforting, making it a perfect appetizer to share. It’s a must-try for anyone looking to explore something different.
Miso Ramen: The miso ramen was a bowl of warmth and flavor. The broth was rich and savory, with deep umami notes that enveloped the perfectly cooked noodles. Topped with tender slices of pork, soft-boiled egg, and fresh green onions, each spoonful was a comforting experience. The balance of flavors was exceptional, and the portion size was generous, making it a hearty choice for ramen lovers.
Shrimp Tempura: The shrimp tempura was light and crispy, showcasing the skill of the kitchen. Each piece was perfectly fried, with a delicate batter that didn’t overpower the succulent shrimp inside. Served with a side of dipping sauce, the tempura was a delightful addition to our meal, providing a satisfying crunch that complemented the other dishes beautifully.
Spicy Tuna Roll: The spicy tuna roll was a highlight of our meal. The sushi rice was perfectly seasoned, and the fresh tuna was mixed with just the right amount of spice, creating a delightful kick. Wrapped in nori and garnished with sesame seeds, this roll was not only delicious but also visually appealing. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, making each bite a pleasure.

Ambiance (4/5): The restaurant is clean and inviting with warm lighting and plenty of natural light from the windows. Seating is comfortable and makes for a relaxed meal.
Service (4/5): The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we were seated right away. Service felt attentive without being intrusive.
Food (3/5): My coworker and I tried their special—buy one entrée or noodle soup and get 50% off premium sushi rolls. He ordered the chicken katsu, which came with miso soup and rice, plus the original dragon roll. I went with the spicy tonkatsu ramen and the super dragon roll.
The ramen had decent spice but the broth lacked depth—I wish it had more umami flavor.
Both rolls were flavorful, but there was far too much eel sauce, which made them overly sweet. They also didn’t include cucumber, which I think would add much-needed crunch and balance.
Portions are very generous, so splitting one entrée and one roll between two people is plenty.
Overall: A good spot with friendly service and solid value, but I’d recommend asking for sauce on the side. I might come back, though I’d probably tweak my...
Read moreSushi Mura just opened a month ago, and I was curious to try this new spot. I dropped in for lunch recently and looked over their menu. They have plenty of sushi, sashimi, carpaccio, rice entrees, ramen, and specialty rolls. They also offer beers, sake, wine, and soju, but no spirited drinks (e.g., vodka, tequila, whiskey, etc.). They offer Monday through Friday drink deals as well.
I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and the California roll from the lunch special. The ramen had the light yet flavorful broth that I was hoping for. The bowl was filling with a lot of ingredients for the price. If you like heavier broths, they offer Tonkatsu and Miso ramen and options for vegetarians and vegans.
I also ordered yellowtail sushi to start my meal, which I enjoyed. The sushi rolls looked interesting, and I hope to try them next time.
