Last week I took a date to this restaurant, and oh, what a wondrous time it was!
Reservations had been difficult to get - I had called several times the previous week, and finally got a corner table for two, in the most romantic part of the dining hall. The maitre d' eyed us to ensure our correct adherence to the strict dress code. I thought he was a bit snooty, but I could scarcely blame his probing eye. It was a Wednesday night, after all. After inspection, we were taken to our table, positioned closely to the marvelous architectural design of the service counter, a marvel to be sure. A betuxedo'd man played a soothing number on a violin as he slowly wandered the dining hall, playing at just the right volume to allow for quiet conversation, smiling and winking at each charmed couple. The couple next to us were gazing starry-eyed at each other as they fed each other french fries, and the lighting was just low enough to have the right feeling. It was destined to be a magical night under the golden arches.
Our waiter was a kindly old gentleman who brought us a delightful smile with his recommendations. "The Filet O'Fish," he said, was “especially fresh today and a superb choice with a glass of fine Coca Cola." I admit, I was taken by the description of crispiness, and my date was rather impressed as well. I was happy to hear that there would be no corking fee for the Coca Cola, although I kept this exuberance quiet so as not to look miserly to my date.
I had two of the Filet O' Fish sandwiches, while my date had the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. She looked radiant, the sequins in her black dress sparkling in the dimmed light, outmatched only by the glint of hunger for her delicious sandwich and, I hoped, for my overpowering masculinity. The barest drip of ketchup splashed onto the wrapper in front of her, and we laughed nervously with each other over the near fashion disaster that had posed to her dress.
After the satisfying meal, our waiter returned, suggesting a hot apple pie for dessert. I'm glad I made the splurge for this treat, these two hand-held, self-contained, apple-y goo bars. I still shake my head at the wonder of it all. By the time we had finished the pies, and were licking each other's fingers sensually for the trace flecks of cinnamon and sugar we had left behind, my date was looking at me with doe eyes. I had surely impressed her with the gourmet meal and the atmosphere.
After dinner, we slow-danced on the floor of the playground, surrounded by candles placed in recycled, decorated Big Mac boxes. It's very important to me that a company take my environmental concerns seriously, and I was glad to see this artistic display. Over the shoulder of my sweetheart, a statue of St. Ronald McDonald gazed upon me approvingly, and I winked at him in thanks. I owed the tremendous success of the date that night to his efforts in creating a wonderful setting with quality food.
I had the McLoving of a lifetime that night, and I owe it all to the fine quality of this McDonald's restaurant. It truly was a...
Read moreI read about the spicy nuggets and szechuan sauce and how you have to download the app to find them both. There were other McDonalds closer to me, but none had the items.
I placed the order then drove to the store. I walked in and was immediately ignored. People who walked in were helped after me. And I was at the online order pickup.
After being ignored I asked one of the employees for help. A simple “hi”or “I’ll be with you in a second” wouldve helped, some. Turns out I made a mistake on the app, and if someone had helped me they may have fixed my problem and I would be grateful.
I waited a while. The people who came after me came and went. My nuggets were ready but the employee informed me that they were out of sauce.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? After I downloaded the app, placed my order ( the sauce was available on line), drove past other Mcdonalds then got ignored, there is no sauce?!?
I asked for my money back. A manager was informed, and suddenly there was the Szechuan sauce, which the employee handed me. At least the employee said “sorry”.
Im a restaurant general manager, and whenever there is a problem with an order, a manager talks to the guest and apologizes. Even a “Hey so sorry” goes a long way.
The employees, including the manager, at this store just dont seem to care. And this was my first time at this store. Not impressed.
The place looked very clean, though an employee mopped the floor around me without putting up a wet floor sign.
If you want to keep business, start by implementing a policy in which employees say “hi” to every guest. I speak Spanish, just like the employees. A simple “Hola” would’ve made me smile.
I tried posting this on the mcdonald’s app, but it said I have too many characters.
It’s like no one in the company gives a damn about my experience or what I...
