Finally, good Japanese food that we don't have to drive 40 minutes, one way, to get to. Yamato is a welcome change from the last restaurant that occupied this space in Moraine Pointe Plaza. The place has been nicely renovated and is very clean. We ordered Pan Fried Gyoza for an appetizer and Teriyaki Salmon Bento boxes for lunch, one with fried rice, one with steamed rice. We were first pleasantly surprised by the crispy, tasty Gyoza (dumplings). Then came the flavorful grilled vegetables and salmon. Every item was fresh, hot as expected, and, likewise, cold as expected (California Rolls). I, personally, have to note that their water is good. I have to ask for lemon in my water at many restaurants to disguise the funny taste. But, Yamato's water needs no modifications 😆. We are excited to have Yamato in the neighborhood and hope the other locals will enjoy and support them, too 😃.

Stopped by for lunch and greeted right away. The nice person who welcomed us and took us straight to the table and pulled out my chair. It's very rare these days. Order steak hibachi with fried rice. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The Yamato roll is salmon with avacodo and cream cheese, and it was crispy and delicious. The spicy girl roll was spicy tuna, topped with spicy salmon. Very fresh. The asparagus roll was a nice refresher between the two spicy rolls. Our server was polite and wished I would have caught her name. Ensured we never had an empty cup and checked on us frequently. The restaurant was busy when we were there. Great service.

I recently dined at Yamato and had an excellent experience. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with each piece prepared with great attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Prices were reasonable for the quality, and portions were generous. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a high-quality sushi experience.

Good food, terrible service. I would really love to like this place. We went there today and the food is really good. My wife and I have been three times now. Every time, the same server acts like she's so annoyed that we walked in the door (we always come when it's never even remotely crowded). She (always the same server) is always abrupt, impolite, impatient, and acts like we're pulling her teeth by asking for anything. When she was taking our order, my wife asked for her steak to be cooked medium and the server rolled her eyes and huffed off like "How dare you ask anything of me!" Mind you, we are always polite and respectful of our servers wherever we go. And we always tip well. We are NEVER demanding, but we DO have to interact with wait staff occasionally for goodness sake! It seemed to be the server's mission in life to get us out of there as quickly as possible. She even set our check on the table less than 10 minutes after we started eating and my wife wasn't even 1/4 through her meal yet. We were going to ask for ice cream for dessert, but since the server put the check on the table immediately, we didn't even bother asking. I WOULD come here more often. It's a shame because the food is really good and the prices are fair. But management really needs to MANAGE their wait staff and at least tell them to be polite. The eye rolls, the obvious annoyance at our existence, the whole attitude. It puts a bad taste in people's mouths about the whole business. I STILL tipped 25% because I'm going to be a decent human being regardless of the way I'm treated. Yamato needs to do better. Or hire people who actually care about their jobs.

5 stars in food. 2 stars on service (and that's...

I came in for a carryout 30-45 minutes before they closed - I felt bad for coming that late, but it isn't unreaso it was really bad sushi - looking at the other reviews maybe it was just old sushi? Even the sushi rice was a weird texture...I only ate a small portion of the mealclose efore deciding the $35 Ispent wasn't eorth potentially getting sick from and I threw it away. They were very rude to me and CLEARLY annoyed that I had shown up. It was 45 minutes before close - I would get it if it was 15 minutes but c'mon.

I apologized for placing an order so close to the end of their day but don't treat customers like that. Especially first tim customers. Also - If you order online - BE CAREFUL when signing the credit card receipt! I ALREADY OVERTIPPED (35%) IN THE APP! Then they ask you to TIP AGAIN WHEN YOU COME TO PICK UP? IF YOU JUST SIGN IT WITHOUT WRITING $0 IN THE TIP SECTION THEY CAN WRITE THEIR OWN TIP AMOUNT IN. AND THEY WILL!!! Very disappointing. On a positive note the spring...

My friends and I dined in for dinner a few nights ago. For starters, the service was slow and not attentive. We were never offered refills or asked how our food was. The food was okay at best. It was about 6 o' clock at night, and there were a few families there but not enough customers to warrant the slow service.

The waiters and waitresses were on their phones and not paying attention to their customers.

Please be wary of some of these reviews for this restaurant. The one review displaying the sushi platter seems to have been taken from behind the sushi bar and posted by one of the staff, among many of the other "good reviews" for this place.

The service sucked and the food was just okay. I will not be going back.

Oh, and the page on the menu teaching Japanese phrases, was not correct and the staff should learn how to use Google translate before publishing this garbage...
