Mr. V's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Caldwell

I love this place and they are always worth a try. Their service is very well coordinated, but today seemed to be an off day for them. For example, today my kids and I came in and it was "seat yourself." Immediately a server greeted us and took our drinks. When it is busy this is typically done by the host or, on not so busy days, by another server who has a moment. Anya took our drinks, then our actual server (who is very good at her job, we know since she has served us before) dropped by and said she will take our food order in a second. Anya came back and took our order. Weather she was asked by our server or told by her manager, i do not know. I did not see our server for a long time. Our food was delivered to us by a manager it was not hot let alone warm but I like it said, it seemed to be an off day so i chose not to comment on it. Our server did not come to see if we had everything we needed nor were we able to get her attention. Anya came and we were able get my kids water, myself some tabasco and sour cream. At one point a little over halfway through out meal the server whose section we sat in stood behind our table and was surveying her guests. She commented on how we ate our potato's the same way. This was when I asked for extra napkins. By the end of our meal I was given the check and I asked to speak to the their manager. I informed the manager of our service and asked to have the check transferred to Anya, seeing as she served us. In conclusion, thank you Anya for taking care of us when your coworker wasn't able to. I would also like to note that Anya did state that the transfer wasn't necessary. "They (servers) help each other out all the time." Check out my NEW UPDATE The first part is the way Mr.V's used to be. Good food. Great service. They've changed. Breakfast was great! Service fanominal...best omelet ever. Food was right temp, hot! UPDATE: 1-24-24 I usually don't update a review, but this time I have made an exception. Mr.V's has gone downhill in the last few months. Service is still excellent, but food quality and quantity have changed. Last 3 trips to Mr Vs, have been nothing but horrible. First meal: Ordered waffle breakfast with Ham. Added another egg to the order. Ham was not the regular ham they used to serve. Honey ham is the usual for breakfast. What I got was a piece of leather. Tasteless and tough. Eggs were ice cold and rubbery. Second meal: Ordered off the smaller portion menu. Ham and cheese omelet. Again with the cheap leathery ham and hardly any cheese. Hashbrowns were positioned on the plate to look like I was getting a lot. 4 bites at the most. Not worth the $16 with tip I paid. Third meal: Thought I would try their dinner menu this time, their Signature finger steaks. Really? Signature finger steaks? Horrible. Baked potato, corn and corn bread muffin. Short little stubbs of nothing.There wasn't ONE longer than a half an inch. Cold, rubbery, tasteless something. Potato and corn was cold. I bet there was only 3 tiny spoonfuls of corn. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mr V's family restaurant and I must say, it was an exceptional experience.
