My wife and I spend a great deal of money eating out several times a week. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back to Casa Anejo after our experience today. We noticed the restaurant several days ago and decided to stop in for the first time on Sunday around 3:45pm. We were greeted by absolutely the loudest music we have ever heard coming from a restaurant. The temperature inside was freezing cold since the roll-up doors were wide open with the temperature outside in the 40s. We were ready to leave. Staff immediately apologized explaining that the noise was due to a party that was supposed to have wrapped up at 3:00pm. A DJ had the music cranked up to the max. We were encouraged to come in as the party was breaking up, the roll-up doors would be closing and the music dialed down. While the roll-up doors did eventually close, the party continued. After 30 minutes, the music was brought down to a reasonable volume. A family with young children was at the next table. Their young son had his hands over his ears as the music was deafening. A couple sat near us and were visibly dismayed by the uncomfortable atmosphere. The service was very poor. I was brought the wrong entree which had to be taken back. We had to ask for utensils more than once; I eventually walked up to the bar to get a fork for my wife whose food was getting cold as I waited for my replacement entree. The server told my wife that a particular dish wasn’t spicy; it was. Wait staff never refilled our water; never came back on their own initiative. We had to track staff down each time. When we requested our check it took forever before someone came over with the payment device. It was one of those occasions when we felt like we were being ignored despite being polite and appreciative. I can tell that this place has good food but first impressions are very important; my wife is totally turned off to this restaurant and will never return. Staff acknowledged the noise and confusion but did nothing to compensate for an extremely poor dining experience. We enjoy all types of restaurants, some with noisy environments, but this was over the top. I honestly don’t think they care if we ever come back. This restaurant is not inexpensive; we can’t risk another visit if they can’t guarantee a positive...

I found this little gem while looking for a place to enjoy our 29th wedding anniversary. We are from California recently moved here and have had our share of flavorless, or canned "Mexican dinners" while here in Idaho so if you are interested in one of those types of places, please do not go here. I met a gentleman leaving Casa Anejo with one of their shirts on and I asked him how their food was. He said he worked there and was off the clock and could honestly give his opinion of the food and he said "It is really good and I recommend it". I made reservations for my wife and I here at Casa Anejo. I had another place picked out but they had canceled on us so luckily I found this Casa Anejo. You walk into an open dining atmosphere with their bar at the back center of the room. Seating is on the side and large tables are in the middle of the room. We were seated promptly and waited on by a pleasant waitress right away. Service was great and what you would expect from a well-run establishment. We ordered (attached photos) the Sweet Corn Guacamole (I absolutely recommend this when dining there or you will miss out on a great take on fresh guacamole) as well as the flavorful salsa, a Smoked mezcal margarita brought under glass and filled with smoke. The drink was well presented and tasted just as good. For dinner, we ordered the Tri-Color Asada Burrito (all steak) and a Plain Bean and Cheese Burrito with a side of Fries. Both dishes filled the plate. From start to finish you could tell this was made fresh and with real spices and ingredients that reminded us of some great places in California we have visited. The fries were crispy and had great flavor as well. After dinner, the staff brought out a nice little dessert to help us celebrate our 29th. The owner stopped by to pay us a visit at the table and congratulate us as well. He shared how they obtain all their ingredients locally including their beef. Compliments to Casa Anejo for having a great-tasting Mexican-style restaurant. Diner is not inexpensive, however, but if you want great-tasting food, you will not be...

Let me start by saying my husband and I have been to Casa Añejo one time before when they had barely opened. We weren’t very impressed with the food but they were new and had said we’d try it again after a while. My husband was born and raised in Caldwell, so naturally we love to spend our money and time in Caldwell. Specifically around the beautiful downtown area.

We decided to try it again today. We walked in around 11:50am. They opened at 11. We were happy they weren’t busy. We were told we could seat ourselves. We sat and weren’t greeted for a while. When the young lady came over we had already decided what we wanted to order and thought we should do it right away since it took forever to just be greeted. She would only take orders for alcoholic beverages for some reason. So I ordered a drink… we asked for waters as well. Probably another 10-15 mins went by and another waitress came by she asked if we’d been helped we said yes but we were ready to order. She took our appetizer order and said she’d be back to take our food order. We asked for water again and nothing. Our app came out and I still hadn’t received my drink from the bar. They had forgotten. A man came over and asked if we’d been helped I told him I had a drink that hasn’t come out and we wanted to order food. He took our order and went to make my drink. Food came out and it was very small for the price. We had to ask for water again. The girl was kind of rude when I asked this time. It all tasted just fine though.

About half way through all of this I told my husband their Instagram seems different than this, very customer oriented… I told him I’m just going to message their Instagram account and let them know our experience because I hate leaving bad reviews. Then as our experience just got worse and worse I had to leave a review. We decided to spend our money and free Saturday at Casa Añeja and felt...

This place is not your typical taco joint. It’s definitely an elevated experience. This place is beautifully decorated. The service is amazing. We were greeted by Danny and he was wonderful. Felt like we were talking to an old friend. The drink was amazing. It was called a mango lemonada. Perfect blend of sweetness to the taste of the Tajin and Chamoy. They were dangerously delicious. Could have drank 10 of them easily. My daughter ordered the carne assada fries and it was so tasty. Very fresh ingredients. I ordered the stuffed chilaquiles. It was stuffed with cheese and had very authentic tasting salsa on top. 3 different kinds. My husband had the taco flight and it came with carnitas, chicken and carne assada on it. They were all delicious. My 7 year old had the kids taco plate. It is not pictured but very delicious. For dessert we got the bunwelo Sunday and it’s so good. The vanilla ice cream tasted home made and not store bought. This place is so good and definitely a step up for us. Delicious food that I didn’t feel that you had to drown it in cheese or salsa to enjoy it. You could actually taste the quality of the meat that used and the sauces were definitely home made and not something out of a can. We can’t wait to go back for brunch on Sunday’s. We were told by Danny that on Fridays and Saturdays, in the evening from 9-12 that have a lounge like experience and that sounds like a great date night.

Went in yesterday and the place has changed to a sports bar vibe with its normal loud music and more TV screens playing sports like the Boise game last night which was muted due to the music. Usually I don't go to sports bars due to the noise when trying to eat but that is my personal preference. I took away 4 total stars in my review because of the lack of food available. I go here for the birria which was not available for 45 minutes and really disappointing. I then tried to order my second favorite which was the tamales which again was not available. I did settle on the street tacos which was really good but not why I came here to eat here. The server was pretty attentive and apologetic along with being friendly. Now that this is a sports bar theme the prices do not seem to match the new vibe but this is a personal preference. Great place to eat overall. Older review below: This place is pet friendly. I would call ahead to make sure you can sit at one of the two inside tables or you can sit outside but they can't serve alcohol outside. The food and service is great. My wife and I enjoy the mixed drinks as well. The birria menu is great. I get the ramen birria almost every time. Get spot to eat in downtown Caldwell.
