For many years, we drove past this place or talked about it with other people, only to finally make reservations for the entire family before we looked at Christmas lights in the plaza. It was a special night for our family. Our annual Christmas lights walk, with pictures and hot cocoa. Everyone told us how good Indian Creek Steakhouse was. Well, tonight must not have been the night to go! We were very disappointed. The table was not ready when we got there. Honestly, I get that, but when your restaurant personnel act as if we are inconveniencing you because you have to rearrange an area for people to eat (they had a private party cancel at the last minute, and they had to move tables), that is a problem. Then we got seated, and during the drink order, we were rushed by the server to tell her what we want, only to wait for about 20 min for the drinks to show up. When she brought the drinks up for the two different tables without a tray, as she attempted to place my drink on the table, all four drinks tilted and she ended up spilling my husband’s drink on my clothing, and onto an adjacent chair which had my purse, a child’s coat and my daughter’s iPod. After that fiasco, it took another 20 minutes to get the food order in and approximately 45 min to an hour later to receive entrees. We were told about the big party on the other side of the restaurant, the busy game room and packed band areas, and how they had to move things around where we were sitting to accommodate us. Again. it felt like we created an inconvenience for them, as she said it was good we were able to fit you in. It’s not like we didn’t have a reservation…they only knew about us coming to the restaurant for about two weeks now. We were told that they have four kitchens. Apparently one the them doesn’t know how to cook shrimp since my expensive plate had raw shrimp comingling with my somewhat cooked steak. I have pictures of the seasoned cold, gray shrimp. It didn’t help that the rest of my meal was cold as well. Beans were cold. Steak was lukewarm at best, with a bloody middle for “medium”. Mashed potatoes were cold, with sour cream when I specifically asked for no sour cream due to an allergy issue. Nice dinner for the mom who never really gets to eat a hot meal (I know you moms out there understand)! Had to take home the protein portion of my meal to cook it properly before I could eat it. In addition, our girls asked for no spice and jalapenos on their nachos, which the restaurant promptly gave them. My husband’s prime rib was not hot either, so I guess he knows how I feel most of the time during dinner. In addition, his drink was very weak, not much of anything in it except for juice. Only our two older children, who ordered pasta got a little bit of a hotter meal. It was a horrible experience. Dinner was expensive for our family of six, and yet so disappointing. Won’t return and definitely will not recommend Indian Creek Steakhouse to others.

Going for Happy Hour is the most affordable way to approach this steakhouse, Lunch menu steaks get pretty expensive. From 1-4pm you can get a Burger & Fries for $10.99, an 8 ounce sirloin with two sides for $13.99 or my favorite, a 6 ounce sirloin and four garlic shrimp plus a side for $16.99. Drinks are $1 off for well, draft and house wines. During the Winter Wonderland, this is a good way to experience the million lights after HH without the huge crowds this downtown Caldwell attracts now. When I've gone in a group we get pretty good service, refills asked for on drinks, etc. With their two small kitchens, the food usually comes out in waves. When signing the check last time our server made sure to point out an automatic 20% service charge for over 8 people. Food is tasty, however a couple of negatives seem to come out each time. Fresh cut fries often over cooked and greasy (guessing the fry temps are too low or baskets filled to high so more oil is absorbed) some entrees not served hot (often sit under the warmer till the rest of the orders are ready) and over salted (the cooks are pretty heavy handed, so request less salt if you like it that way) and a pet peeve... what's with a slice of orange lon each plate? That's fine for a breakfast place but seems just strange to pair with a twenty dollar plus entree like grilled salmon. And this a western themed not fancy place, so don't expect a beautiful presentation. Positive notes, the burgers are cooked to temp as well as the steaks, the hamburger meat is thick, so turns out juicy. Steaks are tender. This place scores high as a spot to relax and have fun, especially evenings when the band starts and the dance floor is active and the noise from the pool table activities and upstairs echo off hard surfaces. Their formula attracts the crowds, but as I get older seems like my preferences for an expensive steak dinner lean more towards quiet enough to have a conversation, linen napkins, servers dressed up a little, etc.

I've never left a 1 star ...ever. From NYC to LA...ive been to a lot of joints. The ambiance here is great... it ends there.

Ordered prime rib ... 3 of us. Two medium , one mid rare. All over done. Ridiculous. I have ordered prime rib many times, several places , all four corners of the states. Prime rib is essentially medium rare , and seared for medium or mid well. This looked almost microwaved ...

Potatoes were over cooked to the point of the dried skin separation.

I'm not sure I've ever seen "beans" stewed in crushed tomatoes with onions and peppers...??? But not baked or BBQ beans by any stretch.

Finger steaks were medium...awesome !! They were good. Seriously. But you medium rare some deep fried steak fingers , but all 3 actual cut steaks were over wrong?? Seems like they accidentally got the steak fingers right.

Now ...the kicker. Beware of the server NOT bringing the receipt. "Large party" was described online as 10+ people. Our party was 4 adults. I picked up the check; another party member was prepared to leave a generous tip. So she bypassed the tip on the bill on her handheld. Paid in the handheld. (I never penalize servers for food quality, so she was still good fo a tip).

10mins goes by... Party member preparing cash tip... I had to ask for a receipt... she reluctantly gave me a copy. It had $40 of auto gratuity already charged (for large party .... again, 4 adults. ), plus we told her we were leaving tip in cash. She said she bypassed it on the check for the cash option we were leaving. Her hesitation to give me the receipt leads me to believe she attempted a double dip. Knowingly charging the auto gratuity ( again, our party was 4 adults ) and willing to take the cash tip as well. So ...she got her $40 auto...which was less than the cash we were going to leave. Way to go... I am fully aware there may have been some oversight here...maybe it wasn't intentional, but the fact she had no intent on bringing a receipt leads me to think otherwise. Js.

We've lived here quite a while. This was our first time trying " The best steakhouse in Idaho" .... sadly , barely palatable, and potentially crooked...

Did not live up to the hype! Went on a Sunday at 3pm and I was irritated from the start. The hostess was not overly friendly and then she sat us in a super close-to-the-front door table (with the sunshine blasting into my sister's eyes), even though the restaurant was not full at all. We had to ask for a new table and she seemed annoyed and inconvenienced to move us. Once we relocated, we met our waitress. She was not overly friendly or warm at all. We asked her a few questions about the menu items and she didn't even know all the answers... strange! We had to ASK for the appetizer menu btw. She was slooooooow with drink refills and, yes, I had to actually ASK her for a soda refill even though my drink was clearly empty. My sister ordered an alcoholic drink and it did not have the coconut flavor as advertised so she asked to have the flavor brought out separately to add to it, but the waitress was super weird about that too. We felt like we were the bad guys instead of valued customers. *The check had her drink charged out TWICE which became an issue to get it removed, as she did not have two drinks, rather, they brought a small glass of the coconut flavor which they seriously charged a dollar for! Even though we clearly pointed out the double charge error the waitress still said "I will see if the Manager will remove it." Okaaaaaayyyy. Moving on... there were only FIVE potato skins on the (expensive!) appetizer plate so only one of our party of four got to eat more than one skin. Again, the waitress was just not that great and then, here is the kicker... she brought us the machine to enter our cc for paying the bill and she literally HOVERED while we discussed the gratuity aloud since we were splitting the check. SOOOOOO awkward! What kind of establishment sets it up so the waitress waits while you add the tip?? VERY uncomfortable. My steak was tasty but the fries were only mid/meh as my kids say... I just can't justify returning due to all the aforementioned issues. Back to Texas...
