What a total nightmare ! Our Saturday trip at 1 PM was a mess, and I’m still mad. It wasn’t busy, so you’d think they’d get it right, but nope—our group of four dealt with one stupid mistake after another.
They sat us fast, but that’s the only thing they did right. My friend asked if the Chicken Sandwich had onions and garlic, and the server—who turned out to be the owner—said he thought it did but doesn’t “deal with” what the cook makes. Seriously? The owner doesn’t know the ingredients they put into it?
It got dumber. My other friend ordered an Unsweetened Iced Tea and got a Malta instead. Come on, how do you mess up a drink? When I asked for a suggestion, the guy just said, “Everything’s good.” That’s the most annoying, useless answer ever!
I ended up with the Mofongo with Churrasco, which was just okay—nothing special. Then I asked if the Tres Leches Cake was homemade, and he said yes. Guess what? It showed up in a takeout box, dry, gross, and easily the worst Tres Leches I’ve ever had. Lied right to my face—unreal!
The worst part? My friend found a hair in her Chicken Sandwich. When she told the woman bringing our food, she said sorry, but then the owner came over acting like a jerk. He demanded she prove the hair was there, like she was lying. She said she didn’t want a refund or new food—just wanted them to know—and he still told her to “keep the hair next time.” We were shocked. Later, he said he’d take the sandwich off the bill but kept going on about the hair. I had to tell him to stop because I was so done.
This guy has zero clue how to treat customers. He could’ve said sorry, offered something for the awful visit, or just been nice. Instead, he was rude, acted like we were trying to scam him, and made us feel like garbage. Shame on him and this terrible place....
Read moreHad the pleasure to trying Puerto Rican food for lunch yesterday. Was an odd experience. The server was very standoffish with me and somewhat rude. I couldn’t figure out why. It was as if she thought I was someone else. Not 1 smile. Threw my credit card on the table, and actually stood in front of me while I signed for the bill and tip (lol who does that). It was odd, my wife and I laughed about how rude she was to me for no reason. On to the food! Empanadas we’re fresh and very delicious. Had a beef empanada and a shrimp empanada for an appetizer. Fresh out the fryer and were delicious. For the main course I had my first try at mofongo. I ordered a fried pork entree while my wife had a cut thin steak one. Her steak didn’t look as appealing, it almost looked boiled. My fried pork was delicious though. Fresh and had very rich. I dipped mine in the spicy mayo that came with a side salad. The mofongo wasn’t bad or great. I’m sure it’s a family dish that everyone’s relative makes the best. Ours kept the resemblance of the Tupperware it was stored before being warmed up. The taste wasn’t terrible, just a little bland. The texture is fun I must say. Overall I could only give 3/5 stars The server I noticed was super friendly with other patrons EXCEPT me lol. I couldn’t figure out why. The food I would give a 3.5/5 as the fried portions were great, the appearance of the mofongo and taste desired more. The steak looked like it needs to sit on a griddle and not a microwave or boiled. The meal was about $50 for 2 people as we had 2 empanadas, 2 entrees and I had a couple Puerto Rican beers. Would love to give this place a try again if those areas could...

I had read about Kafe del Puerto and decided to give it a try; we like ethnic foods, prefer takeout to eating in and the restaurant was en route to our Airbnb. The colorful Spanish/English website is helpful in deciding on choices to call ahead.
The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and a little tricky to find and exit off of North Atlantic Ave., A1A and Lincoln Ave. But the old adage: "Don't judge a book by its cover" applies here. Don't judge a restaurant by its door because behind the nondescript door lies a gem of a family restaurant located in the heart of Port Canaveral. I had called in my order from Cocoa and Martin told me my order would be ready in 10 minutes. It was. I was greeted by lively music and two gracious women. The interior is cozy and decorated in a native theme.
I ordered salmon with three sides: sweet plantains, white rice (yellow rice was not available that day), and red beans. It was a very generous portion, and I had enough for lunch the next day. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Extra sides are available. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cuisines offered include Caribbean, Latin, Spanish and Puerto Rican.
If you are looking for authentic, Puerto Rican food, make a note of "Kafe del Puerto," the "Cafe...
