After reading some of the reviews posted, and after eating at the restaurant almost once a week since it opened, I feel compelled to share my thoughts. I preface this review by stating that according to others I am an overly critical person. Hopefully you will accept that if after eating there this long, and not posting a review, that it is not customary for me to post reviews. In this case, shame on me, because this restaurant deserves the support and after reading some of the inane and ridiculous things people posted, I feel compelled to respond. I am a consummate buffet diner because of the selection and price. I find that even in the worst buffets there is always something that satisfies my hunger. More importantly I have to put into perspective what I am paying and what I get. The Asia Buffet price for lunch is $7.50, and with the coupon that the owner generously prints in several publications, it is $5.99. For either price I have an enormous selection of food, to include entrees, salads, sushi, hibachi and desserts. At lunch there is always baked salmon. By the way, the last time I bought salmon at the grocery store it was $7.99 a pound. Over the years I have found that there are certain things that I enjoy, and things that I don't enjoy, not because they are particularly bad, but because I just don't enjoy that dish. The reason I continue to return to this restaurant is a) you are always greeted in a friendly manner, b) the food quality is consistently good, c) the restaurant is clean and nicely lit, and d) the price. So when I read the horrible reviews I have to consider the source. My first reaction is whether these are competitors writing these reviews trying to steal away business. My second reaction is what in the world do people expect for $7.50 or $5.99, or for that matter the dinner price. Apparently they expect that the owner should offer them an endless amount of gourmet quality food that they can build in mountains on their plates, eat part of it, and throw the rest away. From what I have seen over the years the amount of food people waste at buffets far exceeds what they would waste in a sit down, serve restaurant. I dare say, even if they didn't like the regular restaurant meal, they would still eat it after paying $15- 30 for a single plate of food. Isn't it a luxury that at a buffet if you don't like something, you can always get something else? To conclude I gave the Asia Buffet an excellent rating because they have earned it. And those of you who can't find something you like for $7.50 or $5.99 should perhaps go to a Subway and buy a sandwich and chips for the same price. Should you try the restaurant which I highly recommend, and should you have any issue, then speak to the management. I can safely say they will help solve any issues. I have tried every oriental buffet in town, and could write volumes as to why I don't like them. Instead I feel very blessed that we have someone in Cape Coral who truly cares about us, and is trying his very hardest to offer us a huge selection of quality food for a very reasonable price. As a post note I realize that many people who live in this country truly believe that everyone should speak fluent English. Fortunately for us, this is not the case. We enjoy a myriad of different peoples and cultures who are here trying to make a better life for themselves because this IS a great country. I see people trying to speak to the waiters or waitresses in Oriental restaurants expecting that they are going to share their abilities in English. Generally this isn't the case, so if one of these hard working people doesn't linger by your table for conversation, please accept that they are doing the best that they can, and are perhaps shy or embarrassed that they can't communicate as they would want to. Be a kind and generous citizen and give them the benefit of the doubt. Don't take your frustration out on them, but instead ask for the owner or manager, who will surely quell...
Read moreI always enjoy finding delightful buffets. I have been to many of them over the past 7 years, From Oregon south through the bottom states that border Mexico in through the heartland of Missouri to Ohio and PA, eventually making it back to my home buffet of the CraY Buffet in WPB... Which is the standard I judge all buffets by.
To be honest I forgot I was here! I am always glad when alcohol is allowed. I walked the buffet table and choose to venture out in to the hibachi area. I have recently started enjoying Hibachi more!
The only thing missing from this part of the buffet is the raw eggs. With the price of eggs today I didn't ask if they had any. I simply assumed the empty hotel pan in the protein area was reserved for. When beef is cheaper than eggs there is some sort of conspiracy theory I should investigate.
I loaded up my plate with all sorts of good stuff...beef, noodles, veggies, and when it comes to sauce this is how I can tell if it is Chinese, Japanese or Thia run... They had hot chilli oil, garlic and ginger available... I placed one scoop of each on top... I would consider the spicy to be less than mild wings. That is Chinese hot. Japanese hot with the same ingredients would be equivalent to hot buffalo wings, the Thia version would have my nose running, my forehead sweating and loving the flavor and wondering how did they do that...
My original Post about the hot and sour is still the same. It is not very hot or sour, but the taste is remarkable. The ingredients are fresh and each has its own flavor. Welll done once again. I am sure I'll be back over the next 10days...
But no more review... You review too much..go home
Aye much better than most. There are 2 items I use to compare quality. Crab ragoons and hot and sour soup.
The soup is by far the worst rendering of this known delight. Here it is like an oyster sauce mixed with some mushrooms, it is neither hot or sour. A very big disappointment to me. However, the crab ragoons make up for this. Probably one of the best versions.
Everything is freshish and appealing.
A good selection of Asian dishes with some American dishes.
The service is excellent.
Clean restrooms.
Domestic beer 3.25. Import...
Read moreI come here occasionally with my mom and son on fridays. The last time we came it was a bit weird, they said they didn’t have any more covers for cups for children. We went back this time and again they say they don’t carry cups that have covers for children (like take out styrofoam or gas station cups for reference by what I mean) so ok. We say we’ll head somewhere else because my son is super messy and we didn’t want to spill. So the owner is nice enough to accommodate and make a to-go soup cup with a straw punched through. That was nice of her. It annoyed the waitress though and the rest of the time she kept grabbing plates that were still being used with dirty gloves that she would bring to the trash and use the same gloves to grab our plates that we weren’t finished with. I asked her nicely not to take my sons food, as he’s still eating. She dropped the plate down but had already touched his food with her dirty gloves. We didn’t want to give him that food so I went and got him more food. My mom moved that plate to the edge of the table. The waitress came back and then grabbed my moms food that she was still eating off of. My mom told her she was still eating and the woman tried asking her “do you want your shrimp?” With her gloved fingers all over her food... My mom patiently tried to explain to her to please stop touching our food with her gloves that she’s still touching the garbage can with, that it’s unsanitary. The waitress literally rolled her eyes at my mom and walked away. When we were writing the check, my mom paid and still left a nice tip. The waitress went over to grab the check and started rubbing my moms arm with her disgusting garbage gloves. It was intentional and spiteful because my mom kept asking her to stop touching our food with her gross gloves and now she’s putting all over my mom. I had enough of it ar this point at the inconsideration and spite this waitress had and asked to find the manager. I spoke with her in a separate room because I don’t want to disrupt other people’s meals even tho everyone should have known how my mom was treated. ☹️ When I explained to the manager she said “I guess we should have a meeting about it.” No apologies, didn’t even seem to care just wanted me...
