Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Cape Girardeau

Seems like most of the food was greasy and I had no taste Great if you like Buffet but nothing I would recommend.

This place has mixed reviews kinda hit or miss? I did a returned visit as I was looking for a breakfast Buffet yesterday and decided to hit the Golden Corral have not been there in a while overall not a bad choice as they have a pretty good selection of foods. A few things I would suggest was cooking the bacon better to start. It looked like they took a handful of bacon and threw it in the deep fryer as it was all stuck together like in a clump (burned on one end and not done on the other end) and did I mention it was super greasy? Not much on presentation and you have to pull it apart if you want any as everything was stuck together? Kinda sad in a way poor presentation on their part definitely recommend to grab some paper napkins and dab that grease off unless you like heartburn or the runs. Also the mushrooms and fried potatoes looked like they were sitting in a pool of grease as well what's up with that? This in my opinion is what gives GC a bad rap. Little for thought to make it more presentable so much for management? What I thought was strange they also had no toast? So if you wanted toast I guess you were out of luck unless you grabbed some french texas toast? Also what's up with no spoon as you know you are going to need one for your coffee or spooning off the grease out of your plate..(lol) I guess you had to ask for one which I thought was weird? Overall not a bad meal just a few quarks that could be addressed to make it a better place to dine. What I found interesting is you never see kids in this place just the older crowd which is fine with me less noise. They had fried chicken and pizza as well as deserts and a fruit and nice salad bar for breakfast. So, little bit of variety for everyone which is nice. I liked the link and patty sausages, saw mill peppered or sausage gravy and biscuits (could provide a better biscuit in my opinion) fried potatoes, (no grits) as well as you can get your eggs cooked pretty much as you like which for me was great as I get tired of scramble eggs prefer sunny side up or if you like even a western omelette, coffee, O.J. and water all for $6.86. Absolutely the worst Golden Corral I've ever been to in my life. The plates were all dirty and after we complain to the management team they barely picked through the plates to find a clean one. When I say dirty you could clearly see food on all of the plates. I could not believe didn't anyone on the management team had done anything about it before I said something. My drink had something in it that after I had drink it I have to spit it out. The majority of the food you can tell was very old it had been sitting there for a long time. The mashed potatoes had raw uncooked potatoes in them. The corn and green beans you can taste were old and had a horrible taste to them. The cook who was cooking the steaks was throwing what looks like dirty water on them, it was pink in color, on top of the steaks he was cooking and he was not even wearing gloves. It looks like blood tinted water. I watched him literally wipe his forehead with a towel and then go into the dirty bucket of water and throw the water on the steaks and continue to cook them. I wanted to throw up after I saw him do that because my family and I had already eaten several of the steaks. At that point I got my family and we quickly left. My family and I love Golden Corral and my kids barely ate any of their food here. I wasted almost $70 on our meals that we could not eat. Somebody from corporate office should pay this place a visit. I wanna start off by saying my family and I are not from the area though we do visit every so often. We went to Claire's to get my baby girls ears pierced for her birthday it was a little more than I expected but we had enough to eat so on this birthday quest we asked our princess what she'd like it's all about her. So she decided on the golden place lol her words. So we come here and we had a bit of trouble understanding the sweet girl at the counter and we decided to leave as we were walking out the door a nice server helped us understand the prices and unfortunately because I had literally blew my wad at Claire's we were a few dollars short. As we were walking back to the car I was apologizing to my little birthday girl that she needed to pick something else because we were a little short on cash. Well then that sweet server Kayla called us back and helped us out so sis could have the birthday dinner she wanted. Kayla you are amazing and you deserve a raise! Because of you we will be returning and we will be asking for you every time. Bless you sweet Kayla you deserve the best and I can not thank you enough🩷🩷💯!!!
