Trying to find great food around Legoland since Tip Top Meats closed.
This place is not it, $35 for 2, no thanks. It took about 15 minutes to be ready.
2 salsa options, mild is flavorless and no spice at all. And then spicy is very hot but again no flavor and is the consistency of guacamole so there is no adding it to the food as you go.
2 taco plate with rice and beans. 2 tiny tacos, 1 tortilla each. Most often 'street' tacos have 2 tortillas... The rice and beans were bland.
The carne asada burrito had virtually no meat. It was stuffed with rice, beans , and guacamole. I had many bites with zero meat. Absolutely shameful as the name should mean every bite should have carne asada...
The rolled tacos had minimal meat also, like a full bite on each end was just cooked tortilla and toppings. Lots and lots of lettuce to hide the minimal guacamole below.
Then after you finish, I am not sure what to do with the tray and such. Some tables were sitting with the trash on the trays. There are many food places,do I return it to the place I ordered from, leave on the table? I eventually found a trash can and a shelf to leave the tray and baskets in a back corner.
Just a very disorganized place that I doubt I'll return to.
Just food, no drinks, grabbed subway an hour later. Just not worth it at all.
Don't bother responding to me, I don't want anything other than quality food on my...
Read moreI was born and raised in Carlsbad, but moved up to the Bay Area many years ago. I come down here to visit my dad about once a year, and the first thing we usually do is go to Juanita's in Encinitas so I can get my beloved 3 Rolled Tacos. I dream about 3 rolled tacos! I am 99% vegetarian, but occasionally I will make an exception - especially for 3 rolled. Some places have started making potato rolled tacos, but they are hard to find (especially in North County).
Well - cut to this past weekend, I was in town and shortly after arriving I was hungry but wasn't sure I wanted to deal with the construction and re-doing of that stretch of 101 going thru Leucadia and Encinitas to get to Juanita's. Google Maps led me to the Windmill Food Hall, which I didn't even know existed!!!! I discovered El Puerto Street Tacos, looked at the menu and saw potato rolled tacos, and was SOLD! I zipped over there in 5 minutes. WOW they were SO Good, the green salsa was super spicy and delicious, and tortillas are made on site! I brought them back to my dad's and he had a bite and was so impressed! I went back a second time two days later!
I am SO HAPPY I found this place and this will definitely be one of my go-to spots whenever...
Read moreWe really enjoyed the delicious food at this counter-service place in Windmill Food Hall. I had a birria beef taco and the flavor was incredible. Tons of melty cheese and tender beef drenched in a savory, brothy sauce. We also got a plate of two carnitas tacos with rice and beans. Addictively good. Their watermelon fruit drink was refreshing and full of flavor, sweet but not too sweet. You can't top food this good in an upscale setting at such a fair price.
The counter person was friendly and helpful. There was no problem leaving off the cilantro on our food choices. Windmill Food Hall is a fun, pleasant place with lots of food vendors. Bathrooms were clean and there's ample free parking. We were there on a very cold evening. Due to doors being open, the front part of the food hall was very drafty and chilly but we found warm cozy areas to sit down...
