2nd review: This is our ever favorite Mexican place in Indiana for its authentic vibe, decor and most of all most importantly food! The service is always professional and courteous. this time around we ordered something different from the usual and popular - veggie chimichanga, Camarones a La Diabla. Now don’t go by the name and think its a complex dish. Think of a spicy sauce with grilled shrimp, onion infused with garlic. I was wowed for sure! The spice was just right, not something that makes you cry. The portion was huge and filling along with the lettuce, guac, rice and beans. I love shrimp in general, but this shrimp was a step further. I am going back again for Camarones a La Diabla! Flavors to die for! —— 1st review For one I am such a fan of mexican food and we stumbled on caliente at a friend's party. We loved the food so much that day that we decided to visit again on a weekday. We ordered golden shrimp enchiladas, polio chipotle, veg A with tomatillo sauce and bean dip with tortilla chips. The bean dip appetizer was creamy, delicious and heavy. We tried the nachos with tomatillo sauce was hot, spicy and so flavorful. We loved the sauce so much that we ordered another bowl. It blended well with the entrees that is enchiladas and polio chipotle. All in good flavors, freshly cooked, and taste to perfection. A lot of authentic flavors that made caliente stand apart from commercial flukes. Great ambience, fun music, good service and spacious location. Highly recommend- caliente will customize...
Read moreWonderful Restaurant! So, my husband and I were in Indy for a wedding. The night before we were driving around looking for something to eat. We were staying at the Carmichael, (which is an AMAZING HOTEL!) and were hoping to find something close to the hotel. After driving around for a bit and not finding anything that looked good to us, we Googled our area and looked up Mexican restaurants. Mexican food is our FAVORITE! I could eat Mexican food several days a week! Anyway, one of the closest restaurants that Google brought up was the Caliente Mexican Restaurant. Easy to find and right around the corner from where we were. It's so unassuming when you pull up. We walk in to this beautifully, colorfully decorated place! Everywhere you looked there was more to see! We were seated right away. Which was great because we were HUNGRY! Lol! The menu was vast, and colorful! The food ALL looked good! They had their Tropical Margarita on special and that's what I ordered. Hands down, one of the BEST margaritas I've EVER had! It had pineapple, mangoes and other tropical flavors... Delish! 😋😋We both had different chimichangas and the helpings were generous and fantastic! If we're ever in the area again, we won't hesitate to stop at the Caliente Mexican Restaurant! If YOU'RE in the area, do yourself and your stomach a favor, and stop for food and drinks! You won't be...
Read moreSooo. I confess, I have never been here before. So perhaps, some of this is my fault. I stopped by at noon 12/9. It was busy but not super crazy busy. All I wanted was a snack (Chips/salsa/ Queso). This place is usualy busy, so it was a test to see if it's worth it. The young woman at the receptionist counter asked me what I wanted. I said I'll take a large queso and a 8oz salsa. I paid with my card.... I should preface this by saying- I rarely give electronic tips. 98% of the time, I give cash and I ALWAYS tip well. I start at 20% and it goes up or down depending on service.(so yea, I've tipped 100% before!) But for carry-out, it's always a flat 20%. The moment I paid and before I could get cash out, the girl walked away scowling. Ok. I get it. She thought she was getting stiffed. When she brought my food out I handed her a few dollars and said thanks. She smiled wide and said thanks back. But when I got to work.....??? ROFLMAO, SHE STIFFED ME! I got two 6-OZs!! And after looking online at their prices.... she over charged me (bc that is NOT a large queso)!! Ooh bells. Well- lesson learned. I'll stick to where I know the servers deserve...
