UPDATED REVIEW: Took my daughter and her best friend last night to celebrate their Sweet 16. We had a large group, twelve total people. We were seated upstairs. I had requested during reservation weeks ago, that the group be seated where we could hear the live music and appreciate the beautiful atmosphere. Instead we were stuck in a dark, hot, corner of a room. It was so hot, I was using a folded piece of paper to fan myself. Thought I was gonna pass out. The service was ok. Not over the top like previous visits. Definitely not the five star treatment from the past. The steaks or meat was the only thing that gave the WOW factor. Even though one steak was completely raw instead of medium. All the other meat was delish. Also, the presentation of the meat was a joke. It’s literally the meat on a plate. Last time it was garnished with a decorative flower and design. A $100 steak just plainly laying on a plate was bizarre. We found the accessories to be somewhat dry. In addition, we ordered the crab dip starter. Upon the first bite it was like lava. My husband has a quarter size blister at the top of his mouth. Extremely painful to eat/drink today. The girls were offered a choice between two desserts. They both picked each one. That way they could share. One dessert was literally a bowl of three scoops of ice cream with Carmel and chocolate syrup. That’s it. I’m extremely bummed out that I hyped this place up to the entire party. The kids were happy, but they’re appreciative kids. The adults looked at me like, are you kidding me? …….for a $1000 meal, we won’t be back.
1st Time: First time visit to Prime 47 Carmel at Clay Terrace and we are in love. Celebrating our five year wedding anniversary, we wanted to do something special. When I say we were treated like royalty, I mean it! Upon arriving, we were greeted with valet parking. We were thirty minutes early, but made our way inside to the main lounge area. There was an immediate vibe of intimacy, class and distinguished service as we were immediately greeted by hospitality services. They seated us without hesitation in a private booth after hearing how far we had travelled and the occasion we were celebrating.
After being seated, they placed a sealed envelope with a card inside wishing us well on our anniversary and a $25 gift certificate. Along with a complimentary dessert items for our occasion. The menus were back lit and all the tables were candle lit with ambient lighting around the room. Setting the mood for intimate moments.
The menu is pricey but the quality of the food and service is out of this world. In all my years of life, I’ve never been treated to anything like this experience before.
The gifts kept coming as well. We were greeted by the manager with whom is exceptional in all degrees and mannerisms. He’s top notch! Shout out to Isaac most definitely! He brought us several rounds of shots, first a top shelf whiskey followed by some magical pink vodka. On the house.
We also received, complimentary, a salad or soup of our choice. To top off the night, magically nonetheless, was a two foot tall cotton candy, on the house. Let’s not forget as well, they came and took our picture to commemorate the night and put it in a frame too!!!
The pics don’t do it any justice. My only concern is my steak, a 10 oz filet mignon, had a substantial amount leftover. When our server went to bag our leftovers, accidentally my steak was not placed in my bag. No worries though, I spoke with Issac and he’s making things right.

Read moreThe staff is attentive & genuinely cares about dining experience. The menu is typical for a steakhouse of this kind with some interesting options scattered throughout like the bone-in filet which was very good but not outstanding, which is generally how I felt about the entire meal except for dessert, which was average.
While I might eat here again, I would try other steakhouses in this price range first before coming back. When spending this kind of money for a meal I expect the waiter to be familiar with most of the menu items & have an opinion about them, be familiar with the wine & beverage list & be able to make recommendations beyond “everything here is great”.
We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. The are made with off cuts of their beef. These are not traditional meatballs made with the beef ground up. It’s in small chunks. Some of the ones we received were tough, chewy & dry. The sauce is very tasty & they were quite salty. I order the burrata salad with micro greens. I enjoyed it but would try the romaine salad if we go back. I ordered the bone-in filet and we shared the truffle fries. If you’re a filet fan, definitely try this bone-in one! This may be what makes me want to come back, food-wise. I asked for it cooked medium, but would ask for mid-rare if I had to do it over again. Medium dried out the edges too much. The flavor is amazing & the char was fantastic. Not your average or typical filet.
I’m a dessert person. So, I’m generally disappointed when I order one and it’s not yummy. We ordered the brownie w/ ice cream & caramel. I will say the uber-sparkler/fire stick was fun & a really nice surprise in celebration of our anniversary. The dessert was okay but not great, very sweet & I definitely wouldn’t order it again.
The staff is wonderful. They added small but thoughtful touches because my husband told them we were celebrating our anniversary. The hostess seated us in a booth which was not where our reservation originally put us. We had a hand-written note and gift certificate for our next visit and our dessert was complimentary, all in celebration of our special occasion.
We had a lovely night out with Prime 47 in Carmel. But at this price point, I expected a bit more with respect to the experience & knowledge of our waiter and the quality of much...
Read moreWas just here in Jan. 2025 with 2 others. We could not always get our waiter and faced delays with another waiter for dessert and coffee, but our original waiter made it happen. The waiter didnt know the origin of the meat for some types. The filet duo doesn't specify the size and it and the Prime 47 signature dish are very small but very delicious. I am a female who prefers a 6 to 8oz. steak. Prices though are extremely inflated for non-Wagyu, non-aged steaks like the ribeye. On the plus side, your steak will always come at the temp you ordered, rather than being a rhetorical question asked when you order steak at just about any other steak house! I've been coming here with 2 to 10 family members for 3 years off and on when I am in town. Ambience: Modern and fun. But it's incredibly loud and hard to hear one another (esp. at a large round table), unless you're in a private room space or can kean ober to one another and shout. Second, service has been attentive, which is great, but the level of class of service you get from all the various servers I've had for the past 3 years isn't matched with the ambience and menu caliber, which leads me to believe management needs to rethink its service protocols/training. For this price point, it shouldn't feel like the Olive Garden with servers. Servers should not tell the specials and give the dollar amount unprompted and try to win me over as their bff. If you want us to know the prices, either print a specials menu or expect the guest will ask. Do not tell me for each time we order which is your favorite; please just focus on the guest and the order. Do not compare a cheese to the cheese pull from "a Pizza Hut pizza". So there is just a level of service I''d expect but do not necessarily get here. Also, the menus light up which is great if you need it as some of my older family members do, but not if you are photosensitive. Some of us ask for "dead" menus. Call in if you don't see a reservation on OpenTable and you may still be able to get one for the main dining room. Bar gets very crowded and even louder with nice live guitarist/singer performers. Valet is always swift and great except when they turn off your DRLs and move...
