Ate dinner here on April 13, 2025. The food was amazing. The wait staff was so attentive and knowledgeable. Warm and inviting. Our server was friendly and informative. She was constantly smiling and cheerful. It was like having a friend serving us. I cannot say enough about her demeanor and professionalism. The food was so good! It was like stepping back in time to my grandmother's cafe. Everything cooked and seasoned perfectly. The food was served hot. The cook must have extra hands, our dinner arrived so quickly! Everything tasted homemade. I had the chili, and it had chunks of tomato in it! Just like chili should! Super experience. Left feeling like we had found our spot. Planned to return for breakfast the next morning, anticipating the same quality of experience. Definitely recommend that you try this place for dinner.
However, go to the All-american diner for breakfast instead. The morning girl at the register in Betsy's, I have no idea what her job is, but I assumed, since she greeted us, that she was the hostess. We walked into the diner, asked if we could have a table in the back, which had been no problem before, as my son has an allergy to cigarette smoke. She looks into the restaurant and then begins walking into the diner. She said nothing to us. After a moment, I see her setting up a table, so I am assuming that she is getting it ready for us as there are no other people in waiting. So, I begin walking back to the table. She looks up, holds up her hand and says, stop! Go back! So, we do. As she is walking back to her station, she says, "You need to wait for your hostess to seat you. This is a restaurant. It is protocol." (A point; it is usually, I would think, protocol, for the person at the register to NE the hostess. So, up until then I figured she was a young, inexperienced waitress who had not dealt with the public much. And, it was reasonably busy, so I figured she was stressed. However, the preachy, snotty tone she used to instruct me on restaurant protocol was uncalled for. I said that she was rude. She then began berating me, telling me all her many responsibilities, and sent for her manager. He appeared in less than a minute. He began in the same patronizing tone. He told me that the table was being set up for someone else, and I said we were fine with waiting. (Remember, no one else is waiting.) But, he continued to tell me how difficult I was being, that I was raising my voice (nope, in fact, I lowered it, a tactic you use when dealing with unreasonable people.) He also said that we were in a casino so we had to expect that there would be cigarettes. Further, he told me 3 people had told him that I had been rude to the server first. Untrue. There would not have been time for anyone in the diner to speak with him. He came into the diner from the casino, which was empty as far as the eye can see. I am a nice person who tips very well but no one deserves to be treated like they are stupid.
So, eat there at dinner time, maybe even lunch, but if you want to be treated with common courtesy,...

Let's be honest, SlotWorld Casino itself isn't exactly winning any awards for ambiance. However, nestled inside this somewhat dated establishment is a true culinary treasure: Betsy's Diner. This place is a shining example of what a classic diner should be, and it completely transcends its less-than-glamorous surroundings.
From the moment you step inside Betsy's, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely friendly service. The staff are attentive, efficient, and clearly take pride in what they do. They make you feel like a regular, even if it's your first visit. While I do wish they offered phone orders for takeout (it would be incredibly convenient), I understand the casino's perspective. They want foot traffic, and I'm sure no-shows on takeout orders have been a problem in the past. It's a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.
But let's talk about the real star of the show: the food. Betsy's menu boasts all the classic diner favorites, done exceptionally well. I've personally tried the French toast, which was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the steak and eggs, a hearty and satisfying meal cooked exactly to my liking. The steak was tender and flavorful, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My mom raved about her Cobb salad, praising the generous portions and fresh ingredients. Everything tasted homemade and cooked with care.
Betsy's Diner is a testament to the fact that you can find amazing food in unexpected places. It's a true hidden gem in Carson City. If you're looking for a delicious, classic diner experience with top-notch service and food that will leave you wanting more, look no further than Betsy's. Don't let the casino's exterior deter you – this diner is worth a visit, and I know I'll be back again and again while I'm in...
Read moreArguably the best value for a good breakfast in town and while I haven't tried their lunch or dinner plates, looking at their specials, I can tell you they are a great deal too. The portions are big, the service is friendly and fast and it certainly doesn't hurt that the food is tasty too! When we come, I typically get their Chicken Fried steak or Pork Verde as it comes with beans, tortillas and pico and my wife usually gets the Super French Toast with sausage links. Of course, if you're really looking to save some money, they do have $7.99 breakfast specials that'll fill you up as well. I should note there are ads on the table and around the casino for $24.99 10 oz Ribeye and 8 oz Prime Rib for just $16.99 or a 12 oz for just $23.99 and I do plan on giving them a try soon too. Now, even though this restaurant is in a casino, I have to say that it really has a warm feel and tons of local charm with retro wallpaper that highlights the history of Carson City and they really are a lot of fun to look at. Needless to say, this is definitely a place I would recommend dining at whether you're a local or just passing...
