Mom & Pop's Diner — Restaurant in Carson City

Had a great day at Nevada day until I went into this restaurant. I was so bummed I’ve been wanting to go here since I moved here. As I came in was I was greeted by a wonderfully nice man that seated me and told me I could put my doggie in a chair next to me then the waitress came up and not in a nice way very unkind very rude, and obviously she was bothered that I had my dog in there and proceeded to tell me they don’t allow dogs and they can’t be on the chair again just so unfriendly and so unkind… so as I got my iced tea when she came to take my order, I told her I will pay for the iced tea, but I have to be honest You if you had been kinder to me because I was told this was OK to have my dog on the chair I’d be staying She looked at me and said three words no actually four it’s common sense Ma’am, and once again in a very condescending rude and not in a nice tone. Then I spoke to the manager, and he was just as bad, rude, probably even more and said well it happens Didn’t even want to hear what I had to say so I asked him if I could please finish and he didn’t even really listen. It was such a sad thing for me because like I said, I’m new to the area and I was hoping to find a restaurant. It was my first time eating out in Carson city…I’ve never experienced anything like this and I’m not a Young chick very Bad service…this waitress doesn’t belong in the waitress field nor the customer service arena. Also as I was walking out, a woman asked me what happened As I proceeded to share with her, She had a friend next to her, and she said this is the girl, waitress right here, the waitress started in at me started and Woman standing right next to the waitress started telling me she wasn’t rude. Why I do not know for she was never around at the table when I was so rudely treated….so not only did I have a bad experience in the facility / business on the outside. I was very rudely treated As I was trying to leave as well. Very sad One for the books for me I will never be back. I will tell you I’ve had three businesses in my life very successful and for the manager to behave the way he did dismissive and not even understanding or kind towards me as a customer. I wonder how you could be in business this is a big no in the business...

I LOVE this place for many reasons let me count the ways: a simple breakfast with Pops potatoes of course; or when I'm feeling adventurous the cinnamon roll french toast - OMGeee; or one of their size of my head cinnamon rolls to go to over indulge with frosting all over my face and hands looking like something out of a horror movie bahhhaaa - no I'm not kidding; or for one of their perfect sized, fill you up, inexpensive lunch specials with a coworker, a friend or my hubby.

This is definitely, a staple of Carson City, ask any State worker, Legislative session employee or local, they know Mom and Pop's - pssst did you know they're inside the legislative building serving up GREAT food too.

Always friendly, GREAT service with fresh food quality.

Looking forward to seeing what is in store for the future with the NEW Third Street addition and secret is out they are extending hours to dinner and getting liquor license - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Love Mom & Pops...

After being seated, my waitress never returned to take my order, so I had to flag someone else down. Once my meal arrived, I kindly said thanks to the waitress (a different one, since I had no single server), but she said nothing and didn't even give eye contact as she rushed elsewhere. No one checked to see if I wanted more coffee or how I liked the food.

I'm not at all needy service-wise, so for me to say that the service was thoroughly lacking is telling. I was dining by myself that day, so perhaps they didn't consider my business worthy of at least halfway-decent service.

On the positive side, the food was tasty (I had French toast), the decor was bright and lively inside, and there is also outdoor seating available on a pedestrian-only plaza in downtown Carson City. Nevertheless, the rude and nearly nonexistent service that I experienced was more than enough to leave a bad taste...
