I had one of the most frustrating experiences at Wendy’s today, and it all came down to the behavior of one employee, a white woman with cornrows, who displayed zero customer service skills. Despite the AI order system handling most of the interaction, she still managed to sour the experience for us. Frankly, she doesn’t belong in a role dealing with customers.
My girlfriend and I went to order two Baconator cheese fries. She was unsure about it, but I insisted we give it a try. We placed our order using the AI voice system, and at the end, it asked if we wanted to donate. I made a light-hearted comment to my girlfriend and then said, “No, thank you,” aloud. When we pulled up to the window, the employee looked at me with disdain and said, “All you had to say was yes or no.” She then added that they could hear our conversation in the car.
Here’s the thing: I made a harmless joke about how I needed the donation more, but I never directed anything at her. Her job was simply to hand me my food and keep the line moving. Instead, she chose to take offense and make it personal. The worse part about it is when I attempted to pay for a secondary sauce she said no, and informed one per order. Had issues using a coupon on the app-the manager wanted to just shrug it off and say it wasn’t working so too bad. My husband said that wasn’t good enough there has to be some way to honor. She was very rude to us. After sitting there for more than 10 minutes watching as our food sat and got cold in the window she figured it out. Once they finally handed us our bags and I checked our order part of it was wrong and then our FF were cold. I asked for the managers name. She was wearing a red polo, had curly hair, red lipstick and glasses on. She closed the window and wouldn’t give us her name. Learn some human decency and respect especially in a manager role. So tonight around 8:30pm I go to my Wendy's which honestly I hate going not bc or the food but of the workers there. Anyways as I go threw the line and tell them I have a mobile pick up and my name they tell me to pull to the second window. Which I did, but when I got there they then accuse me of already picking it up saying I had someone else come. I told them no I just order and try to show them my phone which would still allow me to cancel beacuse I HAVENT picked it up. Well the employee where rude accusing me telling me I had to wait and I do beacuse I wanna be petty and get my food that I paid for, and after a few mins sitting there she asked again my name and i tell her and she finds it.
