Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato — Restaurant in Castle Rock

Visited JUNE 19th 2022 FATHER'S DAY.

Initial take on it was its in a great location and staff was friendly. The young ladies behind the counter were friendly, smiling, and working hard to serve everyone quickly. The Gelato was good but not the best I have had 7/10 and a little pricey, but what isn't these days. Here is the rest of the review. We were sitting outside at a table that could use a nice cleaning. At 8:45 pm ( they close at 9 pm ) as the line died down one of the young employees ran to slam the garage door and lock it. Then someone came out a couple of minutes later and what seemed a bit condescending " we close at 9 just so you know, just so you know". ( not a typo she said it twice) We continued our visit and we're enjoying the cool breeze and our treats when a family of four walked up and tried to enter at about 8:55pm. At which point, the staff was visibly exclaiming with joy "the door is locked and we are closed" and they were laughing. They could have easily served the family a quick scoop of icecream but chose not too. If it were my business I would be mortified to know my staff acted that way. Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato perfectly defines Castle Rock. It has a variety of unique flavors of both ice cream and gelato located in the heart of town across from the quaint Festival Park. We have been coming here since it first opened and you can tell in the taste that they use high quality ingredients. I personally enjoy the strawberry sorbet. It’s like eating freshly picked strawberries blended with ice and a touch of sweetness.

A note to add: Sometimes they do run out of stock on flavors. To me, it’s a testament to their product as demand is high. I recently saw a hiring sign in their window. They are clearly a stickler for quality so hopefully they can hire more great employees for this summer.

The place is always clean and open and inviting. I love it when they open the garage door. Long lines do not deter us because they have an efficient system down to get to everyone relatively quickly. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. They play the “Closing Time” song as a friendly reminder of their closing which we appreciate because we lose...

I’ve been giibv there since they opened and got hooked on one of their signature flavors Jamaican coconut.. I’ve been there three times this summer and they’ve had Jamaican Coconut once. It’s a summer flavor so why don’t they have it? I even encountered the owner tonight and he Didn’t seem to have a reason why he didn’t have it on the floor. The ice cream is a very expensive and it’s mediocre at best. We won’t be returning. And God bless the teenagers who worked their butts off to serve us.

Just an update. I went on the glacier website this morning to see what their flavors were, just hoping they would put out the Jamaican Coconut. The website said that they had Jamaican Coconut out on the floor so I took my family down to Castle Rock today just for the ice cream. Unfortunately, when we got there, there was no Jamaican Coconut, in fact, the young lady that helped us said that they didn’t even have any in the freezer in the back. So it was a trip...
