First of all the idea of eating in an old church is awesome and the building is beautiful. Eating in a confessional booth was very cool. The food is okay, not great, but good for mid range Italian. The portions are massive if that's your thing, but they could afford to scale it back and increase the flavor and quality instead. Really where the experience was awful was with service and customer etiquette. I'm not sure if we just caught our waiter on a bad day or what but I reserved a dinner in the confessional and the service was awful. Our waiter took awhile to greet us and never gave us his name. There were no pleasantries at all. It was sad because the waiter at the table next to us was very friendly and attentive, but we struggled to find let alone flag ours down. The appetizer we ordered came out very fast and that was great, but I wanted more bread so we waited to continue until the waiter came back. Only after we were half done with our appetizer and ordering garlic bread did he say "I was going to bring you some house bread, do you still want that?" I wouldn't of tried to order bread if I'd of known i was supposed to have it already. On multiple instances throughout the dinner we had to flag down other waiters or hosts, and the more attentive waiter even came to our table to clean plates from us as they piled with how little our waiter was actually helping us. Our waiter even took the drink menu from me before I'd decided what I wanted, so I went to the hostess to get another after two failed attempts to get his attention for one. Maybe they were busy but they sure didn't look it with only a few people inside and out. The table next to us was incredibly rude to their very attentive waiter. Honestly I'd wished I could swap with them. At one point they were yelling "hey funny short guy" across the dining room, multiple times, to ask for another glass of wine. Maybe to some people it's taken well and funny but they were seated next to us while we tried to have a romantic dinner and it was obnoxious. On top of our own poor service I can't see...
Read moreThis was our first time here since the reopening after reconstruction.
Atmosphere: nice, new, modern. Pretty patio, but too cold the day we went to enjoy it.
Service: little annoying. We arrived for a very early dinner (4:30ish). Only 1 table was already seated. 20 more tables were open. Hostess tried to seat us directly next to the other group. When there is that much space, don't sit us right next to them. (And it wasn't because of servers, as there were 3 on staff in the main dining room.) Odd. We sat at a table one over, but then the hostess sat 3 young boys (literally like 10-12 years old with no parents) right next to us. Again...a little space would be appreciated instead of crowding us, when the place is empty... Otherwise, our server was nice, almost overly attentative.
Drinks: nice. Nothing to write home about.
Food: we got 2 pasta dishes. Veal parmesean and Cheese ravioli. The veal was delicious. The ravioli was good. Not sure I'd get again though. Neither came with any kind if bread, which I really missed. Odd thing, I asked if I could get half marinara and half Alfredo sauce on my pasta (I've gotten this many times elsewhere, like a 2 in 1 dish). They said they couldn't unless I purchases a full pint of marinara and a full pint of Alfredo separately. 😳 I didn't need 4 cups of sauce so opted for just the standard marinara.
Overall, good. Probably will be back, just plan on trying other dishes. Wish they offered garlic toast/focaccia/Italian bread, something with saucy...
Read moreScileppi’s at The Old Stone Church is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Castle Rock. From the moment you walk through the doors of this beautifully restored historic church, you know you’re in for something special. The ambiance alone is worth the visit—vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, and candlelit tables create an atmosphere that’s both romantic and reverent, while still feeling warm and welcoming.
Now let’s talk about the food—wow. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic Italian flavor and made with obvious care. The pasta is clearly house-made, perfectly cooked, and served in authentic dishes and great serving sizes. I personally got the sea food dish, which would feed two people and my partner got the stuffed shrimp. Absolutely decadent. Don’t sleep on their appetizers either—the garlic knots and burrata are to die for.
The service is top-notch too. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. They were happy to make recommendations and accommodate dietary needs with ease. You can really tell the staff takes pride in what they do. Shot out to Daniel! She was friendly, out going, attentive and went above and beyond for our anniversary. 10/10 service!
