Dr Bánh Mì — Restaurant in Castroville

First time here, I was hyped about the 4.7 stars! Parked outside and made an order on the phone, close to being done I stepped out and went inside to use the restroom.

I was pretty grossed out by the condition of that bathroom, I can with confidence say it has been one of the worst bathrooms I ever seen, the toilet hasn't been cleaned in days and it's covered in poop stains, same goes for the floor and sink with old dirty stains, and the overflowing garbage with disgusting used and disposed papers. I said to myself " I should make a constructive comment about it when I'm out". I went outside and before I reached the counter to pick up my food I saw what appeared to be a baby roach dead, I thought to myself " no way it, can't be" got closer to see and oh you bet... It was a cockroach, a baby roach which means that there's an infestation. Sadly, I had to cancel my order and tell them what had happened.

After this response I am actually so disappointed on you, take ACCOUNTABILITY!! Your bathroom is DISGUSTING AND HAD FECES STAINS FROM DAYS AGO and you had a dead body of a baby COCKROACH... Keep being in delulu land that you are so clean. Maybe you need prescription glasses ! I so wish I had taken pictures from your place to show it in here. Excellent service. Freshly made healthy food. If you’re looking for something more healthy and fresh, then head over to Dr. Banh Mi. The restaurant is clean and well kept. The food is tasty and fresh made to order. My favorites are the spring rolls and garlic beef vermicelli bowls with an extra fish sauce so I can add just a little bit more to my bowl. The bowls are a generous helping so you won’t ever be hungry afterwards. I liked that the peanuts are now crushed and add that really great taste and peanut crunch to the bowl. On my latest order, they forgot to put my peanut sauce for my spring rolls in my bag. I called to see if I could pick up the peanut sauce, and the owner was very apologetic and was happy get me another one. Even thou this was a small mistake; speaking to the owner made me feel like a valued customer. And he was willing to make it right for me. Such caring and excellent customer service. Not impressed at all. It’s ok if you don’t know anything about Vietnamese food. It’s almost like a knock off fast food chain for Vietnamese food. Very lacking. I got the garlic beef bahn mi. I was amazed at how bland it tasted even with the “house made pate”. The pate is supposed to be packed with flavor but this one wasn’t and was gritty in texture. The daicon and carrots on the sandwich were soggy. We ordered spring rolls and they used spring mix in them. We had to pay extra to add shrimp to them. If you’re going to name your establishment “Dr. Bahn Mi” make sure you’re the leader in your area and that you deliver in flavor, quality and freshness. Don’t just name it that because you are an Optometrist on the side. Sad to say this place gave off high hopes and expectations but under delivered. The bowls might be worth trying but given its the same ingredients as the bahn mis, I don’t care to try them.
