We’re Dining with the Davids, if you're not familiar with us, we go to restaurants with a group of friends called our "Taste Buds." We usually order the entire menu or we let the chef pick the best items. The stand out dishes are turned into a 60-90 second video for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc. (@DiningWithTheDaivds) Our group of ten recently visited Brunch 101 in Cathedral City and asked the chef to prepare their best items, and wow—did they deliver! Here’s a rundown of our top favorites from the menu:
🌶 Red Chilaquiles – A perfectly spiced take on a brunch classic. Fresh tortilla chips are smothered in a bold red salsa, crema, cilantro, onion, and queso fresco, then topped with two eggs and pickled onions. Every bite packed that perfect blend of spicy and savory.
🍞 Biscuits & Gravy Sliders – A comfort food lover’s dream! These sliders come with homemade sausage gravy, two over-medium eggs, and peppered bacon sandwiched between fluffy buttermilk biscuits. They even served it with a side of bourbon bacon jam—next-level deliciousness!
🍓 Belgian Waffles – These waffles were perfectly fluffy and topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, powdered sugar, and a touch of cinnamon. Simple, sweet, and satisfying.
🍣 Ahi Nachos – This unique fusion dish was a huge hit with our group! Crispy wonton chips topped with cubed ahi tuna, mango, serrano, pico de gallo, and drizzled with wasabi and sriracha aioli. It’s a refreshing, flavor-packed experience you won’t want to miss.
Each dish showed creativity, freshness, and a thoughtful mix of flavors that made our brunch unforgettable. The service was warm and attentive, and the vibe at Brunch 101 is perfect for brunch with friends. Be sure to try their flight of mimosas too! Our favorite was...
Read moreI'm going to be critical only because of the prices: Food is very simple but fresh. My chicken for my Sante Fe Salad was very over seasoned I had to fight the urge to sneeze with each bite. Good salad overall though. Salsa spice level was perfect although very salty too. Cotija cheese was sloppily put in my salad as globs instead of it being finely spread when it's freshly grated. The steak looked decent & the potatoes with it were very flavorful. The French Toast looked amazing. My brother in law ate a hearty amount & he's a featherweight class.
We did wait 25 minutes to be seated despite coming early. Then as my parties dining experience went on It made sense on the long table turnover. Bus boy comes to take plates and offers trays only to forget them. I had to get up & ask myself after 15 mins & then another 10 mins to tell them we were ready for the check. Which should have been obvious 15 mins prior when they got the take home boxes.
TL;DR- Food is decent but I expect more for the inflated prices. Prices don't line up with the experience. Very small restaurant. Staff needs to be more aware of table times and turnover so parties aren't waiting on servers to dismiss. Over seasoning but overall forgiveable. Place seems more suited for daytime drinking but that's obvious...
Read morethe mimosas that came with 2 refills so a total of 3 glasses. we got accused of trying to get over and get an additional glass because the staff was not communicating without one another or able to realize we only had one refill. We told them to go back and look at the camera if they thought we were lying. They made a big deal out of it and brought management to us (who had an attitude as well until we matched her attitude and she brought it down). It was to the point we just told them don't even worry about the glass we don't even want it anymore then the manager came back with an attitude stating "Its whatever im just going to fill it up and give you guys another one because we can't figure this out" as if we didn't pay for it. Our group spent over $250 on breakfast there as it was four of us. The mimosas were like $10. Would never return to this place after the way we were treated and embarrassed in front of everyone as they restaurant is not that big and everyone was...
