I try things a few times before deciding if I like a place... and this is 'exactly' WHY! Friday night we got dinner here, and I was impressed! The prices are high... but the food is very fresh, with lots of flavor. And the service was excellent! So, on Saturday we had company from out of state arrive, and I decided to I take them here. Again, the food was very good... but, to my surprise, the service was horrible! This woman was upset because I asked for 'pico on the side' (making her have to run 5 ft to the kitchen to tell them). Then through the rest of our order, she was rolling her eyes and just being rude! (If I hadn't had hungry company, I would have walked out!) So I had no intention of going back! ... but my son convinced me that maybe she was just having a bad day? So... I tried it again today. It was the same lady from Saturday, and she's still having a bad day! But, this time, the food was not great either! The menu specifically says, "all burritos come with rice, beans, and guacamole". So that's what I was expecting. (And I wasn't going to ask questions and set this woman off again... so just trust the menu!) But... this burrito was a head of lettuce, some pico, and a sprinkling of chicken... coming in @ $10! And that is 'wrong' on every level. So I feel like I can say now... after 3 tries (both dinner and lunches)... there are better places to go with $130. And that...
Read moreWe had just started coming here last week and been here twice. The first time we came was in the evening and the food was amazing and the younger lady at the register was very nice. But the second time we came was in the afternoon for lunch and the older mexican lady at the register had a lot of attitude taking our order. We have only been there once before and was trying to figure out what taco to get for a child and she recommended the kids tacos meal, but he was not that hungry so we got single taco plain, but she didnt understand that I guess and had already put something else in the computer so she had to apparently go to the back to change the order even though we had just started telling her our order, and that was when the attitude started, like we greatly inconvenienced her. In the ended the order came out wrong for the child and he couldn't even eat it.
The food has been great but the last experience on the service was very terrible. We were not trying to be complicated, just haven't been there much, but if the servers are going to be giving attitude from a simple order, then they need to find something else to do because it's not good for business. So 4 stars for now, because food was amazing and the first experience was perfect, but if that lady gives us a hard time again, we will...
Read moreFirst impressions matter. Came here with an open mind considering the number of Mexican restaurants in Cedar. Right off the bat we started off wrong. I ordered an horchata agua fresca and they served me a Jamaica one. That was after I said "horchata" twice. Initially when I ordered and a second time when she confirmed. I let it go because who doesn't like jamaica? Second, they took what seemed like forever to serve a simple to go order. Two street tacos, a regular taco, a gordita, an agua fresca, and a sangria. The cherry on top of a Sunday? Once we got home we realized the bean and cheese gordita wasn't in the bag. I called asking for a refund for the gordita. The lady who answered said she could "whip one up if you come right back". I wasn't driving back. I asked for a refund again for the price of the gordita and she said she couldn't do that and could give me a discount for next time. I declined the discount considering this first experience and said I wasn't planning on going back. I was then told I could drive back on Monday so the manager could issue a refund. Not a genuine inkling to make their mistakes better at all. No one beats Tacos el Jefe!
P.S. and a sprinkling of carnitas in the tacos. It was more of an onion taco than a...
