Update Two: 3 stars for Asian Bistro
I can't give this place a favorable review. After a few more visits with my order being correct every time, as soon as I trust the place to get my order correct, it is wrong. This time they got my meal correct, but forgot all of my side items in the lunch special. Just had one fortune cookie (which they usually have given two).
The food is truly great here, tastes authentic (as in dishes are flavorful and not loaded with sugar "Americanized". There are many more dishes I'd like to try, but I just don't know if I'll be visiting here much more in the future.
Update One : 2 star review updated and changed to 4 stars.
Tried them again, ordered the same Japanese Panko Chicken lunch special. The regular prices here are a tad high, but the 11-3 lunch special has some good options to choose from and for the price the food quantity and quality is better than what you'd find at Panda Express.
I would love if they expanded the options a little bit; like a cup of miso soup or vegetable curry for the soup option and a seaweed salad or edamame instead of the spring roll option. No fried rice main dishes offered in the lunch special either.
Overall I'd recommend trying this place, but check your order if you get carry out.
Original Review:
Food has been great, but unfortunately on my very first visit they got my order wrong. I ordered Panko Chicken; I told them the menu item 'L09', and after the host asked me, ' Japanese Panko Chicken'. My order was not taken incorrectly. I received Thai curry and rice noodles (the $14 'Dynamic' plate) instead of what I ordered. While it was good and more than I ordered ($8), I was not in the mood for spicy, even if I could tolerate it. I would have been very disappointed if I couldn't.
Will try them again, but have to check my order's accuracy...
Read moreFor Cedar Standards this place is 4 star Asian food, however for the rest of Utah this place is easily a strong one or a soft two. The menu is too big which means nothing is likely to be made fresh, that or is made fresh and left to sit in warmers for several hours. The chicken was decent yet the flavors were not distinguished, we ordered orange chicken and general tsos and spent several minutes trying to figure out which was which until finally one of us bit into the rind of an orange that was cooked with the chicken. We tried the pork chow mein which seemed to be served with pork jerky bits rather than strips or cuts of pork. The potstickers are 6 pieces for 6 dollars and though the price is fairly high (1 dollar per potsticker) they were fairly good, that being said the sauce they came in was sweet and similar to that of frozen potsticker sauce. Overall this place is fairly lackluster for takeout, perhaps dining in is a better option though if the food on its own can’t stand them I doubt the dinning is much better. This food isn’t great but because of the options in cedar it’s...
Read moreWe have never had a bad experience until tonight. We were seated at a dirty table so we requested to be moved to a booth which I appreciate but it also had rice on the table from previous patron. We asked for water to drink it came with little/no ice in it. Our waitress seemed as if she didn't really want to be there and was in a hurry our entire stay. (Not super busy in the restaurant). When Mary took our order we ordered appetizers and our entrees, thinking the appetizers would come before dinner not the case 1 appetizer came with dinner and the other 1 several minutes after we got our other food. Waitress checked on us one time, never refilled or offered to refill our drinks. When she brought our check she basically left it on the table (no offer for to-go container) and didn't come back to the table until she watched me put my card in the receipt book. When she came to get payment I asked for to go boxes and she put the nasty check holder that everyone touches in my to-go...
