We ordered a large takeout for my mom's 75th birthday and we called just a few minutes after they opened for dinner service. The food was mostly fine, but the service was terrible - we were told it would be 20-25 minutes when I ordered on the phone, I was a little incredulous so I asked the lady on the other side to confirm the time frame, so we left and promptly sat in the restaurant for an hour before our food was given to us and all the while we were told our order was next out and should only be a few minutes. In the mean time, no fewer than 4 other to-go orders just as large as ours came out (with later order times when I checked the tickets on the bags while looking for ours) and were picked up. When our food was finally delivered after 6:30, I asked to speak with the manager to explain they need to train their staff in setting better expectations for large orders (no, I'm not that much of a jerk and demand for free food) and it was none other than the owner (Amy).
Now, I work in a customer-service role in the tech industry and deal with escalations when the ball is dropped all the time. Things happen and usually some polite feedback lets someone address it so it doesn't happen any further.
I had been doing business with Amy's for many years, and just wanted to give feedback so they could correct the issue before it happened to someone else. Good companies should welcome this feedback. Except, the owner didn't this time. She less than polite and when I tried to provide the feedback she cut me off, "We're f** busy because it's Chinese New Years, I don't want to hear it. Just tell me what you want."
Amy, I meant what I said - I WON'T do business with you again since you couldn't be bothered to spare one minute for a simple conversation and instead cursed and assumed I was...
Read moreWell today I was so suprised at my experience at Amy's China Cuisine. Waitress counldn't seem to understand order...egg drop soup, but got sweet and sour. Had to ask about dumplings...when they came out they were fried, and steamed. Husbands coke was flat sent back and ask for hot tea. Should have been served in teapot with cup right....came out in a mug with Mom etched on it and a tea bag hanging over the side. Waitress picks up plate to remove drops spoon off plate, and food all over the front of me. Took credit card and brought it back with food all over it. The creme de la creme is when the check was brought back to sign, I realized my lunch was 10.59 instead of the menu price of 9.59, my husbands lunch was 10.99 instead of 9.99 menu price, and the dumplings were 8.99 instead of menu price of 6.99. They had already run my card and I brought this up to the lady at the front who pointed to tiny print under the lunch menu which stated they can change the price at any time, and went on to say all restaurants do this. I disagreed, she became beligerent and said something about me wanted her to reprint her menus, and said no one had complained, when I insisted she should reprint her menus with new prices. People need to know the price before ordering. She then went on to say no and she didn't care if I came back. Which I won't. I have dined all over the country and also alot in Austin, I have never had this experience. Order from menu , eat it, then be charged what ever they decide. I call this deceptive trade. If you go to Amys China Cuisine, just be sure to ask the prices before ordering so you can decide if the below par service, the helps beligerent attitude, and the so- so food...
Read moreI have been ordering delivery from this restaurant on and off for about 10 years. The food has always been adequate but nothing special. The delivery drivers are very friendly and I'm willing to overlook the occasional cold soup or whatever. But after trying to order food last night I think it is time for me to find a new source for Chinese food.
When I placed an order for two for delivery I was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour. After an hour and 20 minutes I called back to inquire about the status of my order. I was told that it was with the delivery driver. After two hours (from when I placed the order) I called back again because the food still hadn't arrived. I asked to cancel the order thinking that if it had been with the delivery driver for 40 minutes or more I didn't really want it anyway. I was told that the driver had left the food at my front door. I told her that there was no food at my front door (I also walked out to the sidewalk to see if it had been left with one of my neighbors). She hung up on me. So I called back assuming the connection was lost for some reason. As I started to explain again the situation I was interrupted with, "You said you wanted your money back. I said ok." And click. She hung up on me again.
At this point it was almost 8:30 pm and we still hadn't eaten any dinner. We were already quite hungry, not sure what we should do instead at that point, and feeling quite jerked around. The absurd rudeness on top of it all was surprising and unwelcome. I'm still waiting to see if I actually get my money refunded.
Follow up: I did not receive the promised refund. I had to reverse the charge...
