This is the absolute worst "Indian" Restaurant we've ever been to, literally anywhere. I didn't mind that the restaurant's appearance was a little shabby and not as clean or as welcoming as many small restaurants. There are many hidden culinary gems and with a 4.1 google review we were willing to give it a try. (Plus our favorite Indian Food Restaurant was unexpectedly closed) So we ordered, samosas, potato balls, lamb tikka masala, lamb biryani, and tandoori chicken with handfuls of naan. This is our usual orders and reviews and pictures all looked great so we ordered without reservation. To come to the point the food was absolutely horrible. Tikka masala tasted like tomato paste/sauce with seasonings recently spinkled on top and lamb tossed in, biryani tasted very similar. Samosas were a disaster, instead of a light crispy outter shell, it was a hard over processed thick almost biscuit like pie dough, the filling was only marginally better. The tandoori chicken was even worse, I'm not even sure how you can get grilled chicken wrong, the seasoning was so terrible and just to try to add some perspective to this review, you could season chicken with salt, pepper onion, garlic and it would have been league's better than this chicken. The potato balls were ok, crispy, thin outter shell and the filling was fine. The potato balls, samosas and the crispy pre-dinner wafers they brought out were all served with some weird jalapeno puree? and a sweet brown sauce, neither paired with any of the foods they accompanied. The naan was great. I won't go into great detail about the back of the house conditions, but I was glad that I didn't see it until after. The service was good, the waiting staff was very attentive and pleasant, friendly and checked on us and kept our drinks full. They are the reason I...
Read moreI've now eaten here a few times so feel I'm ready to write a solid review. First and foremost, I have to say that every time I have dined hear whether I dined in or carry down the service has been excellent. The wait staff is very helpful if you have questions or want a description of something new that you want to try. They are always pleasant and smiling. They have chicken, beef, lamb, goat and vegetarian options. I've tried different Indian spiced variations with the chicken tikka masala, beef curry, lamb with cashew sauce paneer and vegetable saag vindaloo. I am not fond of goat so I have not tried it. They have full-size entrées with all the different proteins with all the different sauces available so you can pick and choose to suit your taste. My favorite meals here are the combination meals which include a little of this and a little of that and give you the opportunity to try everything from appetizers to dessert pretty much included in your meal. They all come with fresh Naan. I've always been given a small lentil soup with these combination meals and their lentil soup is spot on. They also have Roti, Paratha and Biryanis. I have grown very fond of their samosas so I usually grab an order of those too. I also enjoy the Mixed Vegetable Pakoda- I have tried quite a variety of different dishes here. I have not tried the meats from the tandoor only because I feel like other than being cooked in the tandoor they are not all that unique.
They have a variety of beverages. Coffee, Chai Tea, Lassi's, Beer, Wine. Teji's is my favorite Indian Food restaurant in the Cedar Park/Leander area. I recommend you...
Read moreOk... Not a hater but.... We have eaten a Teji's (pronounced Teh-gees) for 5 plus years. We get the same take-away things each time. Chicken Korma and the Palak Paneer. Both are phenomenal dishes! The naan is great too. But unfortunately they must have switched recipes/chefs. The quality of the food is subpar and worst of all they are now trying to cover up the poor quality with intense heat. We went to the RR location and experienced this first. Natural inclination is to give them a second try with the chance that the old chef fled to the new restaurant. Not so lucky, same problem. Each time we called to complain they said, this is the way it is... We were told we now have to tell them "not spicy." Too bad, this is the only place that the food WAS as good as a fancy downtown establishment and not as expensive. Will try one more time in a couple of months... Hope it might return to...
