Inconsistent Experience - Management Issues Need Attention Wendy's at 2735 Edgewood Rd SW in Cedar Rapids has shown me both their best and worst in back-to-back visits.
Great First Visit (4/25): Everything was great on my first visit on April 25th. Service was smooth, food was prepared well, and the staff seemed to have things under control. This is the Wendy's experience I expect and enjoy.
Train Wreck Second Visit (4/26): Came back the very next day on April 26th at 1pm and it was a complete train wreck! The difference was night and day. Our 4-person order took an exceptionally long time, and the drive-through was packed all the way around the building. To make matters worse, they messed up one of our 4 orders on top of the crazy long wait time.
Management Problems: The manager was making the burgers herself instead of delegating the work to her staff, which created a bottleneck and slowed everything down. The manager clearly needs to figure out how to properly manage her staff. Having the manager doing front-line burger prep while other employees stand around is poor delegation and creates inefficiency, especially when you're that busy.
Staff Coordination Issues: The lack of proper task delegation was obvious and frustrating to watch. When management doesn't know how to utilize their team effectively, it shows in both service speed and quality - and in our case, order accuracy too.
Inconsistency is the Problem: The fact that this location can deliver great service one day and completely fail the next day shows there are serious management and training consistency issues that need to be addressed.
Bottom Line: This location has the potential to be great, as evidenced by my first visit, but management needs to learn how to delegate work properly and coordinate their staff effectively. Until those leadership issues are resolved, service will remain unpredictable.

Read moreWow! This Wendy's had gotten so bad over the last few years. The other night after my son's baseball game I decided to get him a vanilla frosty. The drive thru was backed almost entirely around the building, but i was committed to getting him some ice cream. We didn't move for 10 minutes...i know, i should've just left but at this point I was curious - what the heck was going on and how long would it take. Didnt order for another 15 minutes (good job Wendy's for making money on this...I decided to get a pub fry because why not.... i'm hungry now). I was put on hold for a minute before ordering...this was laughable. Delirium set in. My son and I were laughing hysterically!! There was nothing they could do well....except Take my money . They did that extremely well and efficiently;) overall...waited 40 minutes. While we were at the window another customer came walking up because her order was wrong. My son and I talked about how hilarious it would be if they didn't get our order correct. Also note when we arrived at the window that's when they called the order to START!! Oh my...it was clear they were in the weeds and didnt have enough help to get out. We finally got our food. I told my son to check it...my fries were cold and in one giant lump. His frosty was great he said...of course it was Chocolate!! Lol. The guy even told us it was a vanilla frosty. Too funny to be mad. As we left, we notice two or three Wendy's workers on break....seriously, you have to manage better than that. People were working hard and three people on break!? I mean no one was doing their job well but at least if everyone pitched in it could've been better. Thank you Wendy's for a great story and experience...I wont probably come back for food, maybe entertainment...but doubtful. Good luck...
Read moreI specifically ordered the seven dollar biggie bag that has the bacon double burger, the burger did not have bacon and I specifically said no onion and it had onion…
When the young man handed me the bag with my taco salad, as you can see by the pictures, it had food on the bottom, which was chilly. I set the bag on my lap to check the contents, and the chili got on my pants… when I told the young man I wanted to talk to the manager he slam closed the window and then came back and said pull up!
The shift manager came out she was rude horrible body language never apologized never said I was sorry just simply what can I do for you, sir ?!.
The worst experience of fast food, drive-through ever !
They got the order wrong, the toppings, wrong sloppy food on the packaging that then got on my clothes had to be washed … and the 12 year olds do not care did not care were rude and just wanted me to go away!
By the way, they did not give me a receipt so I had to call back in to the angry 12-year-old manager and give her specific information and ask for the general manager to call me, but I do not trust that she will pass along the information so I will call again tomorrow …
When you pay $16 for two meals and they don’t give you what you ordered as well as prepare them so sloppy that the external bags get food on your clothes, how would you...
