Went to this centerville location at approximately 1:25pm on 2/20/17, a monday.
Parking lot had a lot of vehicles, which is usually a good sign. Went with my work partner to grab lunch before our next call.
Inside, the decor was fresh, with the retro style you'd expect of this kind of concept, had you ever visited a steak n shake before.
Quite busy on the inside. Actually, I'd say a bit too crowded for the space, and many tables are somewhat close together.
We got our meals to-go. I ordered just the double steakburger, california style. It was bigger than I had expected. The burger itself had a slice of onion, with all layers intact, so I had to remove the core of the slices to bring the ratio down. Also on the burger was lettuce, tomato, cheese, and freddy's sauce, a variation of thousand island dressing.
The burger was well seasoned, and a nice temperature! Good flavor, but somewhat greasy, so if you're looking for lean meat, look elsewhere :)
The burger itself I believe was $5.49, so it's not too expensive for what it was, while the combo was just around a couple bucks more.
Next time i'll have to try out the fries and custard to get the full experience.
Overall, I'd rate it a 4/5.
If I had to change anything, I'd add a little more freddy's sauce as it was masked by the burger seasoning and abundance of onion.
I'll be...
Read moreThis is a fun place! Freddy's is themed like a retro 50's diner. It has a good atmosphere, great service and great food. I love their food and their frozen yogurt! Let's start with the best part the dessert! With their frozen yogurt you can order a sundae or what they call a concrete, which is basically a DQ blizzard, and you can order pretty much any toppings you want. I got coconut shavings, pineapples, rainbow sprinkles, and toasted almonds. It was super yummy.
For dinner I got their chili dog, and a jalepeno steak burger, and their fries. The fries were amazing especially with their fry seasoning and their special sauce. The special sauce is similar to a thousand island or a mayonnaise but it is sooo much better! I wanted to put their jalapeno sauce on all of my food. The hot dog was a very tasty all beef hot dog on a bun that was more like a folded toasted Texas toast. The toast bun added the perfect amount of crunch to my juicy hot dog. The steak burger was equally delicious. Everything that came on the burger equally complimented the next item.
I loved everything here and I might make this a frequent place of mine. Oh and by the way you can order your food and dessert at the same time and they will put your dessert on hold until you are ready for it. Isn't that like the...
Read moreThe food was ok, though nothing to write home about. The service was unacceptable.
I went thru the drive thru and was given the wrong order. So I parked and entered the store. Once inside, I found myself beside another man who was also given the wrong order. Though the order he was given was not mine.
I initially learned we shared the same plight because when I gave them the food back, they took the food behind a wall to the carry-out window and tried to give the order I had been handed at the drive thru and brought back in, directly to this man. He, rightly, refused to take it because he should not be given food that was already handed out and left the restaurant. The manager came out later and apologized to this man for them trying to serve him the same bag.
We were then kept waiting for an unacceptable amount of time for our orders to eventually come out. During this time another woman arrived who also had been given the wrong food.
Every time it happened, to the manager's credit, you could hear him loudly telling the team to check to ensure they have the right bag before handing out food, but so many so quick is poor in my book. Add this to the team trying to reserve orders and I had some concerns.
I hope they can reign in this comedy of errors....
