Ordered a couple books and went this morning to pick up from the store. The books were a Christmas present from a friend of mine so they paid but I ordered and did the pick up. The email came to me so I assumed the name was under my name and not who paid and the email doesnât specify different. I arrived at opening on New Years Day and since this was my first in store pick up at B&N I asked the first associate I saw towards the front where I went to pick up. I have never been to this location before so I was not familiar with the layout. I am not certain as to whether he was a manager or only an employee but right off the bat he had an attitude and was clearly bothered I was asking for assistance. He asked for the name on the order and my husband said my name, because again, thatâs who ordered and who the email was addressed to. Normally other stores if they go by who paid, the emails state that name, this one did not. I said if it goes by who paid it may be under this name, thatâs what it was under. He came over and continued with an attitude telling me that it is always under the name of the person who paid and I said okay, no problem, I wasnât sure and had thought about calling but the email said my name. I had my ID and the email out as per the email instructions and he didnât need or want either. I donât know. His attitude was a huge turn off. They had just opened so Iâm not sure what set him off so early off but it was unnecessary and...
Read moreIf you are looking for books...you will find them here. Now that that's out of the way let's talk about customer service. I arrived at the store about 30 minutes ago. I knew what I was looking for but just didn't know where to find it. During my search I passed atleast 3 employees atleast 3 times each, and at no time did anyone offer their assistance. There was one employee that stood literally at the end of the aisle in which I was frantically searching. Still no offer of help. However I did eventually find what I was looking for. My next issue was at the register. I always greet everyone "Hello, How are you"? No response from the cashier (she was one of the employees that passed me a few times) so I repeat it a little louder just to make sure that she heard me ...and still no response. She was mumbling something incoherently but I truly believe she was having a cellphone conversation. She never asked me if I was a member (I am). She rings up my purchase and then she just slides it across the counter with the receipt on top. No bag. No "thank you". No "Enjoy your purchase". No "Thank you for shopping at B&N". Nothing! I did kindly slide my purchase and receipts back and ask for a bag. She did bag my item and I thanked her. I truly expected this store to have atleast the very basic customer service but maybe my expectations of mediocrity were too...
Read moreThe reviews on the new store are just plain harsh. I love the new location. Itâs like a âBorderâsâ reboot! If we donât support the local bookstore, they will all be swallowed up by Amazon. Is this what we want?! Please show your support to this bookstore and try to overlook the fact that there is another STARBUCKS nearby, but it is not in the same parking lot. Frankly, both are awesome spots to have a beverage and get things done like email, a spot of reading, etc. The store has a homier feel the more you visit, so give it a chance or you will end up buying all your books from Amazon....and all of your clothing, food, water, and oxygen. I spoke to the management about the childrenâs section and the reason it is not the same as the previous store is from abuse of the patrons. Children are messy and parents donât clean up after them. If you want a playground, got to...
