Met my wife at Tokyo House for lunch today...and um...wow. Unfortunately things have changed drastically. The food was only okay over the past few years, when I frequented this spot near my job. Today I was ashamed to have invited my wife to meet there. First of all, I couldnt smell anything cooking like in the past. Usually theres a hint of sesame oil or something in the air. I thought I might have caught covid for a second. The prices were up and the cleanliness was all the way down. There was a nasty bucket of something and some bleach on the floor behind the register. The counter was sticky and grimey...not good. Young shorty was in the corner trying to roll a broken sushi roll like a overstuffed blunt! Orders were all mixed up. I felt bad for them like...man they down bad. I should of walked out like I had the mind to from the beginning. But we solidered on and ordered steamed veggies with white rice and gyoza. I ordered the beef teriyaki. Fam...! When I tell you, this was the toughest meat I ever tried to chew through. Listen, this beef should have came with a buckle on it...straight leather drenched in teriyaki sauce. It was cut so thin too, and still tried to eat it like a dummy. I could not chew it at all. I've had jerky more tender than that. I was like yo! What cut of the cow is this... ankle or hoof? This beef should have been stamped Wilson's Leather for real tho. I realized they were under new management. They were trying hard, I think. I was counting health code violations like dude from Sesame Street. The manager looked like Jason Biggs, he was apologetic and cool. So I gave um a pass. He said the new cook was stuck on struggle mode. They should probably rebrand it as Trap House instead of Tokyo House. Lord bless they hearts....

Really sucks that after going to this restriction for over 6 years they have new management and staff. The OWNER IS WHITE....How ironic is that (TOKYO) House...anyways that's beside the point. The new owner is VERY rude, MANIPULATIVE, has bad customer service. Today I ordered what I always order and my food was missing Cabbage and the rice was HARD. I asked for them to please remake it. Charles in the front and Micki were VERY KIND and apologetic and wanted to help. The owner never came out to help me although he could hear what I was asking for. They decided to make the cabbage and give me back the same hard rice and didn't tell me. I had to ask if it was the same. I asked for my Money back and was told I can still keep the food. Well the owner said NO. I needed to leave the food if I wanted me money. FINE. I took my money. When I asked him about giving me the same food without telling me, he said they weren't going to remake my food just because cabbage was missing. I have NEVER had an issue when Amy and Charlie and the others were there. I will NEVER eat here again. Beware they now have cheap rice that is hard and their ingredients are different. This owner does not deserve my business. Sad after all the years I've been...

I had ordered previously and while it wasn't anything special, it has occasionally satisfied teriyaki or orange chicken cravings in the past. I ordered delivery through UberEats and should have checked recent reviews.

Everything save one item arrived sub 90 degrees per my infrared thermometer (some parts 74!). I should have been suspicious considering the food arrived within 17 minutes of placement, but they're close, so I thought I just got lucky and everything would be fresh and piping hot. WRONG.

On top of that, the fried rice had so much sauce, it was inedibly salty. I had to spit out a piece of orange chicken to inspect because I thought it was a rogue shrimp. The teriyaki chicken was double? triple? cooked, and rubbery. A few pieces of the roll were fine, but then suddenly one tasted super fishy and got spat out. I really tried, but it all went in the trash. I couldn't even risk feeding it to the strays that come around.

I'm leaving a review because it appears this has been an issue for a while but clearly there has been absolutely nothing done to remedy the situation. I'll give them another chance in a while...but will definitely check the reviews...

Only posting because I’m a disappointment pregnant lady. I used to get Tokyo house at least once a month when I worked over in the area. It’s been a minute since I last ordered from here. One of my cravings this pregnancy has been their house fried rice. IT’S NOT THE SAME AS IT WAS ! The shrimp used to be breaded, the rice was sticky but good and golden brown. Now it’s just dark , soy sauce and shrimp has no flavor nor is it breaded. Disappointing is all I can say. I should’ve read the reviews since most of them say the same thing. New owners should’ve stuck with the old recipes. Should’ve gone to Mandarin House instead… smh
