Sup Dogs deserves 10 not 5 stars! If one would like to summarize the nature of this lovely student oriented small restaurant in two words, those words would be: >>EXCEPTIONAL VALUE<<.

One can get a delicious, satisfying and excellently prepared meal for about $10 apiece. And we are taking here high quality food - like the delicious burgers prepared in the way which can be described as ornate in the positive meaning of this word. It is impossible to beat that.

Their boneless wings constitute a meal of its own and one can hardy find an equivalent in terms of the amount, taste, freshness and price in the whole town. And there is also a great selection of hotdogs served as a combos - for those who are into such things and honestly who is not?

No wonder that this place is a big hit with the UNC students. But it is also a wonderful place for the old sentimental fogeys like myself to re-live their past and remote but never forgotten college years. Extremely kind, polite and attentive servers of Sup Dogs will help with that type of experience as well.

The owner is doing amazing job running such an exceptional enterprise. Especially that like many of his fellows business owners in our town - he struggles bravely with a problem which sadly very few want to talk about openly - even though this issue was featured in the local press in the past.

On some rare occasions this wonderful place has not so welcomed “orbiters”- in the form of the local homeless. Those unfortunate and suffering people deserve help and care from the city’s administration, but instead are left to fend for them selves, under the excuse of “tolerance”. Many of them suffer from psychiatric problems which are not treated. This creates not just mere “inconvenience” but may lead to very risky and volatile situations. Sup Dogs managers and staff do all they can to try to handle this problem and should be praised for those efforts. However, this issue shall be addressed by the City Hall. It is not unique to Sup Dogs. It is a pervasive matter for all business on Franklin street.

Whoever reads this review - please consider helping out Sup Dogs and other Franklin St establishments by contacting City Officials and asking them to become serious about humanely addressing the perilous problem with Franklin St homeless. Please petition the Mayors office by email, regular mail or just by leaving the message on their answering machines. The contact data for Town of Chapel Hill City Hall are easy to find on the Internet. I certainly did this and I have asked all my friends and coworkers to do so. Let’s keep building up the pressure to ensure that the dining experience on Franklin St is safe and wholesome as well as let’s take care of those who are less fortunate than we.
