Service was the best part of my experience here. The waitress was polite and attentive. Food was painfully dull however, Almost no wow factor in flavor. I had the Udon and Eel rolls and I wasn't expecting much and still was disappointed. The fish stock in the udon was incredibly generic also instant packet quality. I could not detect any deep flavors at all associated with at least real fish stock. Eel rolls were ok. Just painfully ok. My deepest concern for this place is the 100.00 Sanitation Score. The highest score a place can reasonably make is 98-99 simply because it's impossible to make a restaurant completely sterile unless its newly constructed which it clearly isnt. This establishment either paid off someone or had someone who literally didn't care about their job. Both are deeply troubling.
The bathrooms were... disgusting. It was like teleported into the most god forsaken places of New York's Subway Systems. There was vulgar writing on the wall, the toilet seats underside had hardened stains which tells me it had not been cleaned in hours. The smell was equally repulsive. Had I visited the bathroom first like I normally would have, I would have left immediately. There are zero excuses for an establishment that wants to take itself seriously would ever let their bathrooms become this neglected.
On this alone this restaurant should be considered a health hazard for anyone with a fragile immune system. I have forwarded my concerns with the North Carolina...
Read moreThe food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I'm writing this review however in hopes that the ownership or management will see it.
The working conditions were appalling. The reataurant was absolutely clean, but there was one waiter covering the entire floor, and they were clearly very overworked. I understand that the pandemic has been rough, and that the restaurant has been looking to hire more staff, but whatever they're paying their workers and whatever they're offering applicants isn't enough clearly. I could not have been more happy with the food we ate and the effort our server gave, but without (at least) one more person around to run food and bus tables and ease the workload of the wait staff, this isn't the sort of place I necessarily want to support with my money. Even on the most unfortunate of days there should have been more people scheduled to work. I would absolutely pay a bit more for the food we got if it meant I knew the servers were getting...
Read morewe come here pretty often. the food is pretty cheap and it isn't bad so it's worth it.
I think the best thing is their curry. sushi is ok but not great. the staff is very warm and friendly every time without fail but the actual food does take some time to come out. people may complain about the atmosphere but we love it - it is very comfortable and laid back. I see some people complaining about the conveyer belt not being on but i think they took that out during covid and tbh its better that it isn't there
I would still recommend this place to anyone who isn't a sushi or sashimi snob.
not very accessible if you're in a wheelchair but it isn't the worst in chapel hill. there is a ramp to get in and there is a parking lot across the street that does have accessible spaces close to the restaurant. not a lot of space to maneuver though and you do have to cross the street to get to parking (not their fault at all, just sharing for anyone who...
