oh my god this place is unbelievable. I just found my new favorite spot in Charleston. There is nothing else I can think about until I get back there again.
We went there for brunch and I had the schnitzel (it was just like my grandmother used to make) and it was off the charts awesome. Simple things like fried eggs are stellar here. The greens were so fresh and crisp— very lightly spritzed with lemon and maybe a little oil; the grits were the best ever, everything was local, and all the details were scrumptious, tender, and flavorful. Did I mention the grits? Best anywhere.
Service was next-level sweetness. We might’ve waited a few minutes to order, and to figure out where we were going to sit, but we really didn’t notice any of that. When you find a place like this, you don’t even think about price because if you’d like me it doesn’t matter— it’s just worth it. (You could easily pay $16 for breakfast at another place and it could be so forgettable.) You might stand in line a couple of minutes because the people in front of you are getting that stellar service that soon awaits you. In the meantime, look around at all the cool stuff they have in there and buy some of that shot off of the walls. If you enjoy life, you need to know about this place. Stop in...
Read moreOMG this place is amazing! I finally made it back and we stayed and ate inside at the counter. Such a cute little inside, but only the 6 seats or so at the counter and maybe a small table for 2 in the corner. Otherwise, there is a small courtyard just outside that is precious.
There was only one person ordering ahead of us, so basically no wait on a Sunday at noon, was incredible.
I got the chicken and biscuit which also comes with 2 sunny side up eggs and I added the cheddar grits based on the servers recommendation. My husband had the BLT which has a fried egg on it as well. Everything was just delicious! The chicken came with a hot honey for dipping that was just right, the biscuits are incredibly light and fluffy and she wasn't joking about the grits - they were the best I've ever had. You know how grits are basically a flavor vacuum? Well, I don't know what they do here, but these are absolutely delicious.
They also serve wine which is cute, do you can have yourself a full brunch experience if you want! I can't...
Read moreUnfortunately this place let me down. I ordered the grits and greens bowl which was about 90% grits. There was so much cheese and everything was so greasy I could barely stomach it. I expected there to be more to the bowl. It lacked creativity and flavor. The grits tasted like chicken broth which totally over powered the dish. My eggs were overcooked (ordered over medium and they weren’t even slightly runny) and too salty to eat. Total miss. Based on all the reviews I expected something spectacular, but I got a cop out bowl of grits smothered in cheese. I can put together a grits bowl way better than this without leaning into cheese as the dominate flavor. Would never order again. My husband got the tomato pie dish and that’s totally misleading. It, too, was just a big gross bowl of grits with a few raw tomatoes on top. It’s as if the restaurant has never even seen a tomato pie. 2 stars because the spot is cute but food was gross and took way too long to come out. Also, the prices...
