I am embarrassed to say that it took five years to find the best bubble tea in Charleston! Growing up in LA and living in DC/NYC made me develop a serious bubble tea habit and when I finally moved to CHS, I found myself unable to find quality bubble tea. I thought I tried everything until I stumbled upon Maccaro yesterday.
Maccaro has a nice space located in the downtown CHS area and I was again genuinely embarrassed that I was unaware of this gem. I ordered the milk tea with bubbles and it honestly made my day and week: it had the perfect level of sweetness and just reminded me of all the bubble tea I had before moving to CHS. Not only was the bubble tea fantastic, they have a wide variety of pastries, such as the Croissant Waffle or Croffle, which was also absolutely incredible. Read moreFirst time visiting this ice cold brew and bubble tea shop in downtown Charleston area- 427 King Street to be exact. The lay out of the shop is so nice and open. The place is very clean and I love how friendly the owners were. They offer the samples of local pecans and cold ice brew coffees. The drink menus of bubble tea and slushies are great and the ice cold brew is so so refreshing for Charleston warm weather. This coffee-bubble tea shop also offer Charleston local goodies such as pecans, bee city honey ( my favorite) , and sweetgrass baskets, pickled, and local others locally made knicks knacks. We really enjoyed the bubble teas and pastries that we ordered and will definitely coming back to this place. P.s: get you some amazing coffee beans...

On top of that, the owner and his daughter(?) were both very friendly, ready to answer any of my questions, and there was just a pleasant feeling to the place. The only thing they need is more awareness to get a few more people coming in and out- probably kind of tough because it could be easy to miss the shop, if you weren't looking for it...
