I went to Charleston in the fall of 2017 in the spring of 2018, looking for a company to help me rebuild my mother-in-law‘s place. My wife talked me into dealing with Michael Hill, when I met him briefly he wanted $15,000, 5000 for the initial interview, and $10,000 for handling any products . At this time I was looking for a builder, As I am a builder in another state I did not have time to travel to South Carolina. I spent about a half an hour with his associate, I sent her a set of floorplans, and two days later she quit. At this time I did all the design work and drawings myself to hand out to contractors that he may have found Michael finally got me in touch with a builder, but by this time I had already found other builders in the area. When the final pricing came in the builder I found who was excellent an was $38,000 cheaper, and had included a $10,000 extra that the other builder would have wanted. I ended up handling all the products all the decisions and everything involved on my own. I called Michael and said I felt he owed me the $10,000 back, because he did nothing as far as picking products or picking any products up whatsoever, I spent many trips traveling back-and-forth to Charleston and I dealt with every supplier and everybody that was Involved. In the end Michael refused to refund any money, for a job he never even did. My advice if you’re looking for consulting companies in South Carolina, be...
Read moreI met Michael quite accidentally while walking on King St. looking for a Birthday gift for a man who truly “has it all”, and I found it in Mitchell-Hill. Quintessential Southerners, we ended up talking for two hours and I decided to hire MH to manage an upcoming renovation of my childhood home. Skip ahead 6 months and we are in the middle of renovation Hell, there is so much damage that the Contractor added 4 months to the closing date. From my home outside Pittsburgh I’m failing to keep my Mom happy and the MH contract has to be retracted, Michael did his best to keep open the lines of communication and through no fault of his own it simply didn’t happen. C. Dobson (my husband) wrote and posted an unfair review and I’m posting this to reclaim the blame. It was my responsibility to keep MH in the loop and I didn’t. It was my responsibility to meet with MH and keep appointments, I didn’t. It was my responsibility to get drawings and floor plans to MH and I didn’t, the blame fell on MH and for that I apologize as publicly as my husband defamed. Michael is conscientious and a consummate perfectionist, every little detail is important and he’s an artist in his own right. In good conscience I have to correct a wrong done and accept my responsibility in this debacle, MH is Charleston. Born and Bred! Thank You Michael, I’ll bring the...
Read moreBeautiful rugs and helpful staff until you actually want the rug you paid for. I purchased a rug on 2/27 with promised delivery several days later. Nothing. I had to call and inquire. Blamed on missing padding. Second promised date resulted in no delivery as well. Once again, I had to call and inquire. Blamed on my not asking for delivery! My head spun. I declined the third offer, to hand deliver it to me in Virginia, and called my credit card company to cancel the charge. Despite taking my credit card number and stating on two occasions a week apart that the credit had gone through, it is still not posted. The original excuse was they were waiting for the rug to come back from delivery! It had never been sent out for delivery! Unless you can take the rug at the point of sale, run away...
