I made reservations for Vincent Chicco’s a week prior for my birthday celebration. My friends and I were very excited to try somewhere new and enjoy our time together. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely below average, especially since I always try to give the benefit of the doubt (as I’m a server myself). I’ve never had such a disappointing experience, and this is actually the first review of a restaurant that I can remember leaving. After being sat at our reserved table, we were poured waters and told our waiter would be with us soon. There were a few tables in the restaurant that seemed to be checking out and only one server appeared to be working, so we assumed we would be waiting just a little while (which again, is totally understandable). However, we did not expect to be waiting 30 minutes before the server came to get our order, which was well after when the other tables cleared out. After being greeted by the server and with only two other tables sat in the restaurant, we promptly put in our drink, appetizer, and entree orders as we were very hungry. Another 20 minutes passed before we were given our drinks, which was a coke, a tea, and two glasses of wine. Another 30 minutes passed before we were given our appetizers, and the caprese was served to us without any balsamic, literally just cheese and tomato (it took another 10 minutes to get a side of balsamic). At this point there was one other table besides us, who the server frequently visited. Another 20 minutes passed, and we finally received food, which was good, but not as authentic as their website promotes. We enjoyed our meal and quickly asked the server for our checks, as the whole time we felt judged, underserved, and uncomfortable. I’m not sure if they assumed that since we were young we wouldn’t tip well, but almost everyone in my party works in the service industry. That being said, we also know that parties greater than 6 have gratuity automatically added, so we assume that since the server knew this he decided we weren’t worth putting any extra effort into. I’m severely disappointed with the service I received in this restaurant, especially when there are so many amazing restaurants downtown that have great food, staff, and atmosphere. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, not even my grandparents (which I can only assume is their target market as their only clientele appears to be old white people). I hope that management can address this issue and improve the atmosphere and service quality of this restaurant, because the advertising is...
Read moreLet me start out by saying that before we even arrived my hopes were so high for this place, growing up on Italian food from NJ/NY got really excited when I read the reviews. My wife and Only get one date night a month if we’re lucky. I usually try to make it somewhere really special. For starters the restaurant itself is really nice I will give them that. That’s probably the only upside to our experience. Our server was nice, I asked her if the chef could make something specific that wasn’t on the menu for me, she told me she would ask and then just never said a word about it after that. When they brought over bread to the table somehow they spilled the olive oil right on my white shorts, not just a little drop, a ton of olive oil, we asked for more bread never got that. We ordered Caesar salads for starters. There was absolutely nothing special about it, it tasted like the Caesar salad kits you get at any grocery store, we both order chicken parm and it was just bland an ok. Our local pizzeria makes better chicken parm hands down. Overall it was just a giant let down. There is a million other restaurants in downtown Charleston where over 100$ gets you a lot further and better quality. What makes it even worse is to find out that the owner of hotel Bennet which is across the street and is one of the nicest hotels I’ve had the privilege of staying at is the owner of this restaurant. Overall the experience we had just not good an a...
Read moreGreat experience. I don’t like Italian! But even I loved my dinner of Swordfish.
Hostess was UNHELPFUL!!!
At 4:45 reservation on a cold night, I asked for someplace WARM! She tried to seat us at the table closest to the door! The place was empty! Then she got an attitude when I ask her if we could sit someplace further way from the door!
The server was slow. How can you be slow customers when you’re the only table there?
I asked to speak with the manager at the end of our evening, but was told there was not one available.
A few days later, I stopped by to speak to a manager, and I was told there was not one available. But I did ask the name, and mailed a letter and a copy of the receipt because when I got home after a meal, I reviewed the bill because I thought it seemed kinda high and I was overcharged three alcoholic beverages.
I was there with my two children who are both minors, and I was charged for four drinks, there’s no way I had four drinks!
I i’m not a hater and did not want to go online and post to social media. I thought it was more adult like to contact the manager and explain face-to-face exactly what it happened to give them a chance to improve their business, obviously they had no interest in doing it Since I’ve not heard back from them.
It’s been nearly 3 years and I’ve not returned because no one feels like they should return to place with slow service and be...
