Upon entering this pub, one cannot help but feel at ease with the casual and eclectic environment. The decor and history of the location is immediately evident, with plenty of character.
If this one location were used to summarize the entirety of Charlotte I would say they did their City proud. The neighborhood and the building as well as the interior are all welcoming.
Our stop at Alexander Michaels was a simple break from a long drive, desiring some comforting and delicious food. The waitress was quick to have us seated and we were truly thankful for how attentive she was! No issues at all!
For our order, we had the half pound burger medium well with cheddar, mayonnaise, lettuce, pickles and tomato. Accompanied with a side of onion rings.
For myself I looked forward to the Reuben with extra crispy french fries.
I was delighted to hear that for desserts they had locally made sweets. We opted for Carrot Cake.
The burger was delivered perfectly cooked with a side of crispy and piping. Hot onion rings. Absolutely delicious and without fault !
The Reuben with their Swiss sauerkraut, thousand island and corned beef was extremely delicious.
Lastly, the carrot cake which we saved for later was delicious and worth every calorie, it could have used one more layer in my opinion, decadence being the heart of any good dessert!
Now for what I like to call positive critique, I would love to see the menu up front say how much meat is on the Reuben and offer extra meat for an upfront declared price. For my Reuben I was admittedly disappointed with the amount of meat, however the waitress was quick to get more brought out for the extra coin. I believe this was worth every penny!
If I ever find myself in Charlotte will I go again?! That'd be two thumbs up and a satisfied "Hell Yeah!"
Well Done Alexander Michaels! I hope to get to visit...
Read moreBest place for couples!! Candlelight dinner type restaurant with a bar on the side. Me and husband were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere new so we found this small spot and on a Saturday night I thought it was going to be packed but it actually wasn't it was just right! The whole ambience was very romantic with low lighting and a candle at each table. Since it wasn't very busy we were allowed to choose our own sitting and we found this small cute table for two near the corner. Our waitress was very kind and funny and checked on us numerous times throughout the evening but the food was.....AMAZING!!!! Everything was hot and cooked to perfection, I even had to ask our waitress to tell the Chef how great the food was!! And just as we were getting ready to leave our waitress surprised us with a fudge brownie with whipped cream and wished a Happy Anniversary. I totally teared up they completely went the extra mile and made our evening that more special and my husband and I are happy to say we found a new favorite date...
Read moreWe waited a long time to get in... not unusual we had a lot of people and the place was busy.... the hostess made us feel as if it was our pleasure to be there. I eat out a lot and understand when places are busy you have to wait... but she almost went out of her way to make sure we knew how much of a priveledge it was to be waiting so long. Needless to say, first impression was less than perfect. After about an hour and twenty minute wait we were seated. Vicki was pur server and, despite being very busy, she was very efficient and friendly. The food was unique and well prepared. I had the crawfish burrito. Sounds weird, looks weirder.. tasted fantastic. We had a lot off of the menu around the table and everyone seemed satisfied with their meals. The Oreo cheesecake was really good as well. A tell older gentleman came in, I assume he was the owner or at very least GM, and everyone seemed to pep up a little, even the hostess with the superiority complex seemed to smile and be thankful. Go on a less busy night to enjoy the...
