Upon entering this pub, one cannot help but feel at ease with the casual and eclectic environment. The decor and history of the location is immediately evident, with plenty of character.

If this one location were used to summarize the entirety of Charlotte I would say they did their City proud. The neighborhood and the building as well as the interior are all welcoming.

Our stop at Alexander Michaels was a simple break from a long drive, desiring some comforting and delicious food. The waitress was quick to have us seated and we were truly thankful for how attentive she was! No issues at all!

For our order, we had the half pound burger medium well with cheddar, mayonnaise, lettuce, pickles and tomato. Accompanied with a side of onion rings.

For myself I looked forward to the Reuben with extra crispy french fries.

I was delighted to hear that for desserts they had locally made sweets. We opted for Carrot Cake.

The burger was delivered perfectly cooked with a side of crispy and piping. Hot onion rings. Absolutely delicious and without fault !

The Reuben with their Swiss sauerkraut, thousand island and corned beef was extremely delicious.

Lastly, the carrot cake which we saved for later was delicious and worth every calorie, it could have used one more layer in my opinion, decadence being the heart of any good dessert!

Now for what I like to call positive critique, I would love to see the menu up front say how much meat is on the Reuben and offer extra meat for an upfront declared price. For my Reuben I was admittedly disappointed with the amount of meat, however the waitress was quick to get more brought out for the extra coin. I believe this was worth every penny!

If I ever find myself in Charlotte will I go again?! That'd be two thumbs up and a satisfied "Hell Yeah!"

Well Done Alexander Michaels! I hope to get to visit...

Best place for couples!! Candlelight dinner type restaurant with a bar on the side. Me and husband were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere new so we found this small spot and on a Saturday night I thought it was going to be packed but it actually wasn't it was just right! The whole ambience was very romantic with low lighting and a candle at each table. Since it wasn't very busy we were allowed to choose our own sitting and we found this small cute table for two near the corner. Our waitress was very kind and funny and checked on us numerous times throughout the evening but the food was.....AMAZING!!!! Everything was hot and cooked to perfection, I even had to ask our waitress to tell the Chef how great the food was!! And just as we were getting ready to leave our waitress surprised us with a fudge brownie with whipped cream and wished a Happy Anniversary. I totally teared up they completely went the extra mile and made our evening that more special and my husband and I are happy to say we found a new favorite date...

We waited a long time to get in... not unusual we had a lot of people and the place was busy.... the hostess made us feel as if it was our pleasure to be there. I eat out a lot and understand when places are busy you have to wait... but she almost went out of her way to make sure we knew how much of a priveledge it was to be waiting so long. Needless to say, first impression was less than perfect. After about an hour and twenty minute wait we were seated. Vicki was pur server and, despite being very busy, she was very efficient and friendly. The food was unique and well prepared. I had the crawfish burrito. Sounds weird, looks weirder.. tasted fantastic. We had a lot off of the menu around the table and everyone seemed satisfied with their meals. The Oreo cheesecake was really good as well. A tell older gentleman came in, I assume he was the owner or at very least GM, and everyone seemed to pep up a little, even the hostess with the superiority complex seemed to smile and be thankful. Go on a less busy night to enjoy the...

This is a great little neighborhood spot. I love the fact that it's in an old house, and they've retained a lot of the character. We were greeted by a man who was super friendly - while we waited, he offered us drinks and was just so welcoming. The food was delicious - I ordered the blackened catfish sandwich (ask for no onions, they overpowered this dish) with cajun fries and my husband ordered the crawfish burrito. We also ordered makers and coke and a midori sour. Everything was so tasty, the fries were PERFECT and it didn't take long to be served. Our waitress was pretty bad though not gonna lie. She didn't stop by much, I never got a refill on my water and she added all kids of things to our receipt which we did not order. It took 4 tried to get that right. I will not deduct a star for that though because everything else about the place was just so great. I will return, but I'll wait until covid dies down because I wasn't impressed with the way people were spaced out in there.

This was our first time visiting. The restaurant is in a neighborhood and for us it was a little difficult to find as our navigation was taking us all over but we finally found it. There is no parking lot so you have to find parking on the street. By accident we parked in a tow away zone and the waitress saw us and immediately came out and told us so we immediately moved the car. That was super kind of her and we appreciated that so we did not get towed! Inside it was nice and we got seated right away. There is a lot on the menu that looked delish. I settled on a pasta dish with chicken, but the chicken was a little dry but still tasted good. My friend got a different pasta dish and she said hers was really good. Prices seemed far and service was great. I would recommend if you are in the area. It was 50 minutes from our house and would not have visited if we were not going to see a show after dinner only due to the drive, but glad we did. Would recommend!

Visiting Charlotte is starting to get me really excited when it comes to getting good food. Living on the coast of North Carolina I can get some really great seafood, but not so much on anything else, so coming to Charlotte seems to be the place close by that I can experience some really great places to eat, this is one of them! This isn't my first time, it's about my 4th visit and I've noticed that every time it seems like family. I have been waited on by the same person every time, I've seen the owner greeting customers and it just has this wonderful warmth to it. I have gotten the same thing every visit, the veggie burger! It's fresh and homemade, not a frozen burger like what I get back in Wilmington, but a freshly prepared burger that is very good! If you are looking for a place off the beaten path and just want to relax and reconnect with some friends, this is a wonderful place where you can do just that! So good, I'll sing a song for you!
