Manohman …..what can I say about Geno D’s that hasn’t already been said? Look on Yelp and Google, nearly all 5 stars on both - and for good reason. A buddy of mine from Ohio was driving through on his way to Florida and asked to go to Charlotte’s best pizza place. I haven’t been in Charlotte too long so I didn’t know where to take him but I remembered I had Geno D’s bookmarked recently due to the glowing reviews online. The Good: Dios mio, the pizza is incredible. We split a 16” Deli pie and a side of pizza knots. You can tell they use really high quality ingredients and they don’t skimp on the toppings. The flavors were incredible and the sauce perfection. The knots had a ton of cheese on them which made me happy cry even more. Gina was SO kind and helpful in choosing our dinner. She totally validated my obsession with garlic and even brought out a few garlic knots for us to try without the sauce and cheese (garlic lovers rejoice with these!). I’m typically not a fan of pizza crust and don’t bother eating the crusts of slices because the extra carbs/calories aren’t worth it to me. With the exception of Geno D’s and Salud. Not sure how they do it, but the crust is SO crunchy and crispy but perfectly light and airy inside. We ate every bit and it was glorious. So, not only is this one of the best pies I’ve had in my life (yes, it is legit NY/NJ pie) but Gina (and I imagine Geno, too) was so sweet and personable and took the time to ask our names. You just don’t get that in 99% of places. At most places, you have to sacrifice a bit of service for great food or vice versa but Geno D’s is the elusive unicorn - they have it all. The Meh: nothing noted! The Bad: anyone who doesn’t live in Charlotte and get to eat here :). Sucks for my friend who has to go back to Columbus and settle on Tommy’s. One thing to note: they’re located in 7th St Public Market so they close at 7 - get there early! Parking is validated within the market and they’re also on the light rail if you’re moving in and out!

I recently had the opportunity to visit 7th Street Market and Geno's for the first time. I ordered the Super Special, opting to substitute ranch sauce for the marinara due to my tomato allergy. The pizza was prepared in a mere five minutes, and I found the crust and cheese to be exemplary. However, I considered the price of $18 for a 10-inch pizza to be somewhat steep, though I had no substantial complaints regarding the quality. Parking at the venue can be somewhat challenging. I utilized the 7th Street parking garage but had to navigate around the building to reach Geno's. The elevators located within the 7th Street Market appeared to direct me to the appropriate floor in the parking garage, yet I encountered difficulties accessing my vehicle. It is noteworthy that I was not alone in this experience, as a group of five others seemed to be facing similar challenges. *It is advisable to ensure that parking validation is obtained when you order your food.* The weather was pleasant, making the walk enjoyable, but the Market was quite crowded, which made finding seating a challenge.

WOW. To say that love is baked into every pie at this place is an understatement. My wife and I had just received the latest issue of Charlotte Magazine where a small article was written about Geno D's, and it was from that very moment our dinner for Saturday night was decided. We initially met Gena who gave us a quick rundown of their menu. We ordered a Grandma's, a calzone, and pizza knots - more than enough for the two of us (but we wanted to try them all). Each was perfection (and I think the runaway favorite for us was the calzone). Minutes after we received our food, Geno paid our table a visit. Sweetest man you'll ever meet. Gena and Geno, bravo. Thank you for filling a sizable void in the Charlotte pizza market. We hadn't yet found a place in the Charlotte area that spoke to us like places we've found in years gone by. Your style is sorely needed, and your tableside manner is unparalleled. You'll go far, and we'd like to be there when you do. I gotta get a belly buster. TL;DR: Come for the pizza, stay for the hospitality. We'll be back for both.

Got delivery from here tonight and the pizza was out of the oven at 5:50 and didn’t get to my house until 6:45 (I live ten minutes away btw and yeah yeah I know I’m lazy, it was a long week)…obviously the pizza was cold by the time it got to me. $60 for a cold pizza and garlic knots! I called the store and the store owner actually picked up first thing so I told her the situation. First of all, there was literally zero ounce of apathy. Her first response was “well we have third party deliverers so it’s on them. All of our pizzas come out of the oven hot so it’s not on us” …okay I get that, but this is still a reflection on YOUR business. If you offer hot pizza and delivery on your website, then customers should not be berated for being upset if that’s not what they get🤷‍♀️ I said well maybe you need to look into your delivery handlers if this is routine. Then she proceeds to say “well it’s pizza, it will reheat just fine” baby girl, if I wanted to heat my own pizza I would’ve picked up a frozen pizza on the way home 🙄 and then the real icing on the cake is she then tells me that she’s too busy to discuss this with me, they are in the middle of dinner rush…so basically, “I’ve already got your money so I don’t care.” She took down my number and said she’d call me back to discuss at a more convenient time (for her) and then never called me back. Look dude I’m a classic gen z, I am not the type to call and complain, I’ve never sent food back in my life and to be called a Karen is the worst insult someone could give me🤣 All I wanted was her to remake my pizza so I could come pick it up hot or just refund me (easy solutions and you would’ve had a happy customer and I’m truly shocked that this wasn’t an automatic response??) and yet she offered neither of those things, any sort of communication, or resolution..truly hard for me to believe that this was store owner behavior. Which ya know what, it’s truly a shame because the pizza was damn good once reheated in my oven for twenty minutes but my whole night was thrown with the way she talked to me....

Like Sunday Dinner with the Fam!

First off let me just give you what I feel are my credentials for being a good food expert…😋 1-I was born and raised in Staten Island, NY then lived in NJ till I moved to Charlotte, NC. 2-I’m Italian 3-I love food and I have the fluffiness to prove that. With that being said Geno D’s is amazing! The pizza is legit NJ style pizza and if you know you know. We ordered a large pie, garlic knots, the antipasto salad and a caesar salad. I forgot to take pictures because I was too busy doing my happy food dance and couldn’t wait to eat. OMG…everything was absolutely delicious, fresh and perfectly made. They have a great selection and their prices are very reasonable. To make things even better Gena who is Geno’s daughter is the sweetest! I feel like I have known her since childhood. She was so nice and took the time to tell me about their business and her amazing plans she has for the future of Geno D’s. She also came over to check on us and see how everything was and everything was delicious! Geno laid the awesome foundation and built the house, but Gena is blowing the roof off and taking Geno D’s to the next level. It’s great quality food that taste like I’m at Sunday dinner with the fam! I look forward to seeing this place grow, all the amazing things they will accomplish and all of their food I will eat...
