Oh dear…I have another vice in 7th St Market aka the place where diets go to die. After lunch from Geno D’s and wine from the wine shop, we grabbed dessert from SCW.
The Good: the waffles were BOMB. These are not your “Belgium waffles” you may have had from IHOP - these are the real deal. Small, doughy, and crunchy from the caramelization from the sugar pearls embedded in the dough. We share the Maple Bacon waffle and added Nutella because Nutella belongs on EVERYTHING. It was amazing. Not too sweet which was just right for me. I loved the caramelized sweetness added with the different types of sweetness from the maple drizzle and Nutella. My partner had never had Nutella but had waffles in Belgium and gave SCW a big thumbs up saying they were spot on to the waffles in Liege. I absolutely can’t wait to come back and try the Bacon and Brie waffle. The guy and girl manning the operation (maybe the owners?) were extremely friendly as well.
The Meh: I had to share this waffle with my partner because calories….bleh. I want my own haha.
The Bad: nothing - try these nuggets of deliciousness like NOW!
As with all vendors in 7th St Market, they’re easily accessible on the train and parking validation is located in the market for the...

Sweet Crunch offers sweet & savory waffles that you can customize to your preference. There are menu options as well you can choose from if you do not want to build your own.
The toppings range from oreos to cookie butter & fresh strawberries to bananas.
We decided on a menu item which is called "Cookie Butter Crunch." It was a very sweet waffle that contains cinnamon toast crunch with warm cookie butter drizzled on top. It's recommended to add banana, but we decided not to. After diving in, I would recommend a banana or strawberry to help cut through the intense sweetness. The waffle base was the star of the dish. A warm, sweet, & dense waffle was served, which ultimately was the best part of the dish. The maple waffle & the oreo waffle both caught our eyes as a must try next time.
The waffle itself is very filling. We split the waffle between two individuals & still brought it home. Unless you plan to make it your meal, it's the perfect item to split.
These waffles are located inside the 7th Street Market & make a perfect after...
Read moreThis place is ridiculously good. It’s in 7th Street Market in the exact spot where Hazelnuts (unaffiliated) used to serve up delicious crepes. I was sad to see Hazelnuts close up that spot during COVID but Sweet Crunch is carrying on the good-tasting tradition of that spot and then some. The waffles aren’t your typical waffles, nor are they what you’d expect from something like a Belgian waffle. These things are their own species, and what a tasty species it is! Our whole family loves it here, from the 4 year olds to us adults. My daughter now talks about going to “the waffle place” with as much excitement as going to the Hornets game afterwards. Sweet Crunch is now part of her game day experience. The owners are nice folks to talk to who recently brought their business up here to Charlotte from Tallahassee, Florida, and our taste buds in the Queen City are the winners. I hope they do well here and stay for...
